I had a 9-hour layover at BCN and decided to stay at the Sleep&Fly for the convenience, as you could just walk to the hotel from the terminal. I booked a room at the front desk with the male agent and was charged EUR130 for the overnight stay. That's fine, given I knew I was paying a premium for the proximity. Check-in went fine. I was extremely exhausted from crossing 10 different time zones in 2 days so I popped 3 melatonins and passed out. Around midnight, I was waken by the consecutive beeping noise of room doors being unlocked. At first I was just annoyed and tried to go back to sleep. However, the noise persisted and was approaching my room. I did not expect to be murdered or raped in an airport terminal hotel nor did I sign up to relive a Stephen King novel. I suspected that somebody with a master key was either really intoxicated or this was the hotel's night shift vacancy count??? As you can judge for yourself neither makes any sense AT ALL. The horror had finally befallen upon my room and my door was unlocked. I could not physically get of bed due to my weariness and medication but THANK GOD for deadbolt. The show was not over yet. A brief while after came a couple who checked into the connecting room next to mine. They weren't screaming, but they also weren't talking in indoor voice either. Then took place the most awkward moment - the lady in this couple walked to the bathroom, put down the toilet seat, and started peeing. I heard the whole stream unleashing into the toilet as if the arctic ice cap in Newfoundland is melting at the first ray of sunlight after 8 months of infinite darkness. Or something, I don't know, my point is I DID NOT sign up for this. I paid a high price comparing to what the alternatives were charging for a good night's sleep, and that was completely ruined by a series of unfortunately event. I narrated the nightmare, literally, to the guy who checked me in the night before. He was indifferent and said he didn't see anybody last night. Like that was the full extent of our exchange. I'm not sure if he was tired at the end of his shift or he thought I was hallucinating but I took it very personally. So here I am complaining on TripAdvisor. Since the staff couldn't pick up the injustice that I didn't receive what I paid for I'm warning fellow travelers that if you're planning on a good night's sleep, this is NOT the place. There's clearly beef between me and this hotel and I'm still salty as of this writing but I'm also truthful about my experience. Unless eavesdropping on other people urinating is what floats your boat, STAY AWAY from this hotel.
