哈夫達爾飯店(Hafdals Hotel)

We hit a jackpot with this one! There are not alot of rooms (maybe 8 total?) so make sure to book asap! It is a family-owned hotel, very cleaned and the buffet breakfast with beautiful scenic views makes your morning start perfect! It is located the opposite side of the town of Akureyri, passing through the bridge, but its not too far. Godafoss is not too far from here either. Hafdals Google translate to “Sea Valley” and that’s exactly what you get, a view of the sea and valley down below. There are two floors, and if you are on the first floor, you have a walk-out into the view. You can sip your coffee as you are watching cars pass by in the bridges. Gives you a very relaxing feeling. The room is clean and bed comfortable. There is an added bonus of refrigerator in the room. Free toiletries shampoo and conditioner available. Another added bonus is the free breakfast with fruits, cereals/yogurt, coffee or tea, scrambled eggs, bacon and pastries.

Picture-perfect location on mountain just opposite town and about a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk. We even saw Northern Lights from our balcony. Delicious buffet breakfast. A retired farmer, the owner and his family lives on the premises and is VERY kind and responsive to guests' needs. Being from this area he is a source of information about activities to do in North Iceland - and speaks English well. Every room has a fantastic view. An additional plus is a newly created geothermal bath/spa about two minutes away!

Hotel agréable sur les hauteurs face à la ville. Je m'attendais à un hotel plus grand, c'est assez intimiste. La vue est superbe. On est très bien accueilli, on nous a même aidés à porter nos valises puisqu'il faut ressortir de l'accueil et contourner l'hôtel pour accéder aux chambres. On peut se garer sur place. Par contre, il faut intégrer le fait qu'il n'y a pas de restaurant à proximité donc il faudra repartir sur la ville pour le repas. Petit déjeuner agréable avec une telle vue....

Spent two nights at the Hafdals - thoroughly positive experience. Beautiful, well-proportioned, clean room with wonderful views over the causeway. Breakfast was best we've had in Iceland. Very friendly owner, who can't do enough to help. Highly recommended.

The hotel is located just outside Akureyri with a beautiful view of the city. The rooms are quiet and very clean, with large and comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent, with everything fresh and tasty. The owner was extremely nice and attentive. Highly recommend it.

We stayed 2 nights here and Very much enjoyed this clean and well run hotel, which has a great View from the hotel. The rooms were spacious cosy and clean. The host is very friendly and the breakfast was great. Highly recommended.

Staff and owner was great. Made us breakfast early because we were leaving earlier. Property has great views and is very nice.

Super great views from across the bay from Akureyri, very clean and comfortable, quite and peaceful. The room was warm, the shower was large with heated floors, great water pressure, plenty of hot water. Away from the city lights Watching the Northern lights from the private deck was extremely nice. Also, Thorarinn the owner was super friendly. We visited several times during our 2 day stay. Oh yes, killer good coffee and teas and a nice breakfast selection of fresh fruits, good breads, cereals, cheeses, various meats, juices and more. Myself as a owner of a nice high end boutique motel I highly recommend this place.

We chose this place as it was away from the main part of Akureyri, but only a few minutes drive away. With views across the water to the city, this place was perfect for us. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very adequate and we had parking almost outside our door. Would definitely recommend staying here.
