尼什公寓(Nishi Apartments Eco Living by Ovolo)

I love Ovolo hotels and am a happy customer. However, this property is not operating at the same standard as it’s other properties. I will not stay here again and I will not recommend it to friends. What’s good; the location, the friendly staff and the restaurant. The food is great. While the bar area has a good vibe it’s range of adult non-alcoholic beverages is very thin (and no, juice and soft drinks are not adult beverages). The gym is also good for a short work out. If the staff weren’t so lovely and helpful I would have rated the hotel as poor. What’s not great. - 2 lifts were not functioning at 100% and there were other small things that just were working as they should (fridge door, phone to bake a few) - Housekeeping is inadequate, although we paid almost $2,000 for 3 nights they only do a mini service every 3 days (and we had to request hand towels and bath mats on arrival). - Parking is $40 a day on top of the room rate. - Check in was complicated because we made the mistake of going to the car park first (don’t do this, pull up out the front and get lift access let’s first) The hotel is great at selling its features but it’s not great at explaining how it operates. The one thing it is terrible at is explaining that ANYONE who has any kind of HEIGHTS PHONIA must not stay here. The internal balconies are terrifying. The external balconies are no better. Do not stay here with young children, if you do keep the balcony doors locked the whole time.

This was the second time i have stayed here. Both times someone from house keeping has let themselves into my room shortly after check in. My first room was great, unfortunately i booked an apartment for the second stay and it was quite cramped, i also didn’t have any glasses, coffee/t, utensils. There was also a terrible smell coming from the drains. Bar staff were friendly however their pos system could use an upgrade, to order one drink took a long time as they needed to press 100 buttons just to get the sale through.

The unit was nice enough but it was not convenient and not value for money- parking is $35-$40/night. Staff not friendly or helpful when asking simple questions (wifi/gym). Building is interesting but if you want a unit (e.g. I wanted small kitchen and washer/dryer) there at much more comfortable and less expensive options within easy walking distance. They’ve gone to extreme to be modern at the expense of comfort and ease for travellers.

The entrance and main area of the hotel is excellent. However, the apartment we stayed in was unmanageably hot and the eco feature of this hotel was torture. So much so we checked out early and forfeited the costs of the additional. Staff all seemed good food etc. The actual apartment was below average and uncomfortable but I’d not give it a second thought if it wasn’t for the heat, which seems amplified compared to outside

No hot water for the entire stay, reception told us the parking was to be paid every 24h, when in fact it was every day, so I received a fine that is not contestable. Booked a 1 bedroom apartment to be able to work at night while my partner is sleeping, but there was no door to the bedroom. You could see the person on the toilet from the living room.

Though the room had an amazing view of Telstra tower, I was a little disappointed in the price of the stay. With the price you pay to stay, you would expect free parking but you pretty much have to pay $35 each day of your stay. Plus the location seems a bit out of the way as there is not much options in terms of dining within walking distance. Especially with the restaurant within the hotel that offers very little with hefty price. If you are on a strict budget, I would advise to look elsewhere.

Didnt like the foldout bed which was not mentioned, kept tripping over it. Quilt had stains, dirty lounge, not very clean overall.

Needed a last minute accommodation in Canberra and we decided to treat ourselves to an apartment at Ovolo Nishi. The studio apartment was nice, but feel we would pick the hotel room next time instead. The balcony and view of the lake was the winning point for the apartment.

Small balcony , standing room only. Nice unit, freezer in fridge needed defrosting .
