Short of staff and probably now getting most business from workers and bikers, this small hotel on a busy corner has seen better days. Plus points: very clean room with a decent bed, bedding and towels, adequate hair dryer and a kettle with storage sufficient for short stay. Weaker items: check in, it took 15 mins searching and calling to find someone and having emptied my car i then discover my room is outside in another decrepit building up some stone steps. No help offered. Bathroom, tiles need re grouting and toilet flushes only with several swings of handle. Lights must be 20 watt as very gloomy. TV too small to see any words from bed. Breakfast not proper continental as just yoghurt, bread, pastries with toaster. No ham, cheeses and such. Also laid for exact numbers limiting choices. No tea range.
Overall this seemed £20 too much given how tired it is and while staff are pleasant there is no passion to be in hospitality, no enquiry as to enjoyment or offers of info. Met cleaning lady who seems an asset. Used as stop over on way to funeral. Did not re book for return journey. Did morning walk on canal side and place is littered and too much dog pooh. Very sad place gone to seed.
