Convenience areas, nice staff and services

Service was absolutely amazing. Staff helped out so much with holding luggage. And let us take our time for check out.

Hotel looks dated from outside but when we went in it was fairly modern with self-service check-in and an updated bar and restaurant area. Went to our room it was fairly spacious and comfortable all set up for a family of 4. On the way up one of the lifts wasn't working didn't affect us till next day when going for breakfast and going down to check out as there was a wait getting the lift. On the Saturday when we came back from the Rugby match we enquired about food only to be informed that kitchen was closed. Had a drink and ordered a takeaway and ate that in the room. Next morning went for breakfast, waited for lift, went to restaurant and got a table. The restaurant was not coping well with demand. The were no juices had to wait for them to be refilled. The kitchen was not coping well with demand for breakfast as I and several others had to wait for items to be restocked. Then had to wait for staff member to empty coffee grounds so the machine could be reused. Had breakfast, went to room and checked out. I know the hotel was busy, but for a City Centre hotel it was lacking

Check in took almost half an hour and we were left standing there with no idea what was going on. This made us late for our dinner reservations. Shower flooded the bathroom due to a gap under the shower screen. We reported this to the duty manager and to be honest he seemed like he didn’t care. He didn’t even ask us for the room number so he clearly wasn’t going to do anything about it. TV remote had no batteries in it. Matt on the hotel reception was incredibly rude and intimidating to us, a group of young females, and aggressively told us we were going to get fined due to some missing information in the booking. Not once were we asked for this information during the checking in process, yet he still insisted it was “our fault” and we had a legal requirement to sort this out. What the hell was he on about!? When we confronted him on the manner in which he spoke to us, he proceeded to say "I can speak to you however I want to, Lovely" Matt had also left a list of customer names and room numbers in full view, we pointed out to him this was a breach of GDPR but he shot us down and said "no its not, I can have that there if I want". Such a rude man. We asked to speak to the manager but he didn't care either. I would never stay here again due to the poor customer service and the clear privacy breach the staff didn't care about.

I have just returned from spending the weekend at the Queen Street Premier Inn to celebrate a friend’s Hen Party. I was enjoying my stay - The rooms were clean, the breakfasts were tasty, the staff we encountered were helpful and we really liked the 12pm check out, however my opinion was severely tainted in the last few hours of our stay due to the rudeness I experienced from one member of staff who was working reception, Matt. I had organised and paid for a group booking of 7 rooms on the phone with Central Reservation department who were incredibly helpful upon booking. I was unsure of one of the guests surnames but Central Reservations assured me that it wasn’t a problem. This morning, upon enquiring about whether the guest had checked out at hotel reception this morning, Matt informed me (rather aggressively) that it was against their policy for guests to not have surnames on the booking and that I could be fined. The hotel had switched computer systems the day we checked in, so we had 5 members off staff trying to check us in at one point, and although I offered them the guest’s surname, for their information, this wasn’t updated upon the booking. Matt continuously talked over me as I tried to explain the situation, kept moving closer and closer to me and the group of women I was with during the conversation which made us all feel incredibly uncomfortable, and told me that the missing surname on the booking was “on me” and that could be fined for the missing information. I tried to explain that Central Reservations didn’t disclose this policy to me, and that I had offered the information upon check in, but he refused to acknowledge or hear my explanation. Matt continued to address myself and the group I was with as ‘girls’ which was incredible condescending and patronising. Thankfully, we spoke with the manager who apologised for the way Matt had addressed usbut I was left with very little faith that the rude, threatening and passive aggressive behaviour from Matt would be adressed.

Located on Churchill Way just off Queen Street in the City centre with all that the City Centre has to offer close by This is a large and spacious hotel which has recently been refurbished There is a spacious and comfortable bar and dining area serving excellent meals all freshly prepared on site and all at reasonable prices Rooms are very spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean with modern shower / bathroom There is no reception desk , check in is done on line via electronic check in machines on the ground floor on arrival Staff are available to assist The staff are extremely efficent and friendly Outside of the main entrance the area is currently being redeveloped with the opening up of the old canal area incorporating a pedestrianised area which will make the area very picturesque This is a large and friendly hotel with all that this city centre has to offer right on its doorstep

The location was brilliant for central Cardiff and getting to the event I was attending, but this was not the standard I expected from a Premier Inn Hotel. There was no air conditioning in our room even though the website said there would be. The room was not especially clean and it was quite noisy as well, (the pipes in the bathroom being a real issue). The staff were a mixture of very obliging and downright rude, it was really hit and miss what type of person we would be dealing with. I was quite disappointed considering what I paid to stay there, and whilst I would probably use Premier Inn again, I would not stay at this location.

When I stayed, there were roadworks everywhere, meaning that getting to the hotel and getting out when I was there was much more difficult than it ought to have been. This isn't the fault of the hotel tho! The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to come and ask if needed anything when I checked in (late at 11pm as I was travelling). They answered all my questions about where to get something to eat, including making personal recommendations. Rooms up to the usual Premier Inn standard. Breakfast was excellent (even better than usual PI) and the staff were super friendly (despite me arriving just as they opened breakfast for the day). Service couldn't have been better.
