金普頓格雷飯店(Kimpton Gray Hotel)

Our visit to downtown Chicago was wonderful! The staff was friendly and the location was fabulous for restaurants, theater, and miles of exploring. The room and hotel were clean. We enjoyed a happy hour dinner at their rooftop restaurant, Boleo. Ceviche, pollo, and pork belly sliders were so yummy. Have a pisco sour too!

I booked the Kimpton Grey Hotel for my 21st birthday and I had high expectations due to the wonderful reviews. However, it took an hour and a half to check in due to servers being down. The ladies at the front desk were great but I missed my birthday dinner reservation. After returning to the hotel there was a different person at the front desk. We called to see if our food had been delivered to the front desk and he was incredibly rude for no reason and stated he was not bringing our food up which we did not ask. It was less than tasteful. Valet was very kind and helpful but overall it made my birthday pretty somber. I wouldn’t recommend this stay especially if you have an important event.

This is the second time we have stayed here since April (once without kids, this time with). We love the lobby / lounge area - even had board games & UNO for us to play in the evenings. The staff was SO KIND to send a microwave up to our room so we could make popcorn. You need it - they've got it. Including room umbrellas for those days when suddenly the forecast goes from sun to rain. Can't wait to be back.

Very nice hotel expect one problem. I booked my room on ******* and I paid for it ahead of time but upon check in I was charged another 650 dollars for the room so I was double charged thinking I was just giving them my card for the temp deposit now I have to wait however long it takes them to refund me that money quite inconvenient for me oh well it’s a nice hotel in a nice area just had a bad check in experience.

Overall, our stay was 'fine', but there were a few things that felt off about our stay especially for the price. Upon entering the room, I noticed a lot of dust on specific areas close to the bed, and on the desk. There were also sticky marks left on surfaces from a previous guest. The tub also had tarnishes that suggested it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a while. These details were off-putting, but I decided not to make a fuss about it with the property as they seemed unapproachable to begin with. My check-in was strange. I stay in a lot of hotels for work all over the world, and when I checked into Kimpton Grey, I felt like my presence was annoying for the check-in attendant. I was not greeted with enthusiasm, or even pleasantries. Instead, it felt cold, mechanical, and I don't even think the attendant greeted me or looked me in the eye. It was akin to purchasing gum at a corner store counter at the end of an employee's shift. I'm not trying to be harsh, I'm really just trying to convey that the whole thing felt transactional, rather than me feeling like a 'guest' - which, to be honest, is a nice feeling when you're staying somewhere that isn't home. Customer service really matters to me in hospitality, and even at a basic level, Kimpton Grey just wasn't accommodating. When I asked politely about the lack of bottled water/anything in the minifridge in the room, the question was met with another cold response by a different attendant. I was just curious...

Staff member is great. The gym is open 24 hours. Restaurant upstairs and downstairs.The hotel looks modern. I do wish they paid more attention to minor detail such nightstand table had cup rings, the ironing board being broken, no slippers, and no don't disturb sign.

Loved loved loved this hotel. There were so many extras in the details- the room smelled lovely when upon arrival, the water in the lobby was infused w grapefruit, the hotel scent was available for purchase, the lotions, shampoo, and conditioner was lovely. L The staff was exceptional. Note that the property doesn’t have the capability to stream apps on the TV which was a bummer. There is no pool.

Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Elevators arrive quickly. Nice reading room type area. Nice bar and reasonable restaurant in hotel, but there are many nearby local options. Easy walking access to all downtown sites and services. One block away to the Blue line subway with direct service to O'Hare.

Hotel is super conveniently located to all the trains. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Staff were super helpful and knowledgable. Would stay here again!
