It was a cold and rainy night when we arrived, so the walk from the metro seemed longer than expected. The entrance doors are marked with an inconspicuous sign, so keep an eye out. You will step down to the basement level and can then proceed up the stairs or take the elevator to the bar, which doubles as the front desk. We arrived just before the evening meal, so the bar was full of guests getting their drinks before dinner.
Having just arrived by train from Stockholm, the comfy beds were just what we needed. We had a large room, which by all means met the definition. We ran out for a late-night snack at the nearby 7-Eleven, which was surprisingly stocked with a good selection.
The breakfast was extremely satisfying. Since our return home we've been on a search for Danish rye bread that comes close to being as good.
We were able to reserve a space for dinner the second night, and we enjoyed talking with the family seated next to us in the communal dining.
Kanalhuset will definitely be on our list of preferred hotels. We'll hopefully be back to visit in the warmer months.
