濱河旅館(Riverside Inn)

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riverside Inn. We only had one night but were very impressed with the delightfully decorated room and comfort. The room was quite cool when we got there - the radiator was cool and there was no one in the building to ask so I called Lily and she told me the heating for the building was controlled remotely and would come on at certain times. She said there was nothing she could do about it but wait for the temperature to get to a certain level and then then the heating would come on. This didn't really solve the issue so I just put another jumper on . . . . . The location couldn't have been better and we had a ground floor bedroom with a large window looking out onto the river. There was a table and two chairs you could sit at and watch the world go by. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a large bathroom with bath/shower, lovely towels and toiletries. Also included was tea/coffee making facilities and delicious biscuits. The location of the inn was incredibly quiet - we couldn't hear anything outside at all - but being a ground floor bedroom meant we could unfortunately hear the "elephants" upstairs. The floor boards creaked and we could hear every single footstep above our heads. We sat and tracked walking across the bedroom into the bathroom and back again - stopping at the bed and walking to the window. - creak, creak, creak, creak which, of course, which sounded amplified as everything else was so quiet. Anyway, it was only for one night and there wasn't anything we could do about it. We were late down for breakfast which finished at 9.30am, but managed to get some cooked eggs, bacon, sausage and toast before it was packed away - which was very nice. One other issue was the 10.00am check-out! We've never stayed in accommodation with such an early check-out before and when you're on holiday, it's a bit extreme to have to rush around in the morning.

LOCATION: Loved walking by the river. Your position is perfection!! - URBAN FRESH - Cannot believe "Urban Fresh" was right next door! A brilliant restaurant for dinner; wonderful flavours, lovely environment. - THE CUTTER PUB - A stone's throw away, well attended on the Saturday, buzzing a**osphere, good service, pleasant and comfortable. Great drinks, fast service. ROOM: Room 1, luxury double with bath. Added to which was bathroom underfloor heating. It was luxuriously appointed, warm, inviting, a good size with good storage. We loved our stay! A good sized bath, great products, marble-style appearance, quite grand and very clean. FOOD: Breakfast - we loved the great little fruit bowls, choice of croissants, yogurts, hot food. It was a very good, tasty breakfast. Bright, we enjoyed the ambience. RECOMMENDED? MOST DEFINITELY! We will be back, and would have no hesitation in recommending you. You have a beautiful place on the river, with great views, and checking in and out was easy, quick, and your service very customer-friendly. Thank you!

This place really exceeded my expectations. I arrived in the evening, let myself in and got my keys to my room. It was small with a single bed and a private bathroom across the landing. I was initially a bit disappointed in that but it was so comfortable and well appointed it didn’t matter. The bed and lined was fabulously comfortable and it was spotless. It’s a lovely location and great for an early run. The breakfast was fabulous and the staff member very helpful. I did book a parking space and had a bit of an issue. If you do this and need the EV charger let them know in advance. It was not perfect for the reasons I mentioned but it was otherwise so good I’m still happy to give 5 stars

+ easy and convenient check-in, + comfortable bed + warm design + clean and not worn - Breakfast starts at 8am, which is way too late for business travelers. This was unfortunately not made clear before booking. - Bedroom was heated but bathroom was freezing cold.

My wife and I stayed at the Riverside Inn for one night this cold and miserable January. The location is great - close to the town centre and cathedral - and our ground floor room looked out onto the water. It was quiet and relaxing. We managed to park just outside in the last available spot and I am pleased that I did not have to go hunting for a spot in the narrow streets nearby. Good room and bathroom with Nespresso machine. Good nights sleep. For my taste the room was too warm at 23c and we could not get it any cooler during our stay despite turning the radiator off. Breakfast was good although strangely not very hot as the heated containers didn't appear to have been turned on. We would definitely stay again

Quiet luxury B&B by a canal snd close to a pub that serves great drinks and delicious hot chocolate. Our room was very comfortable with a view of the river. We were lucky to get parking nearby. Great breakfast and helpful friendly staff. We would stay there sgain

A serendipitous choice resulting from a last-minute change of plans. I had no particular expectations but, as soon as I entered the front door, I found my self in a jewel on the Ouse From the Nespresso machine to the quality toiletries, via an extremely comfortable bed, the room was faultless. Breakfast the following morning me the high standards already experienced. I have already recommended this delightful establishment to a few friends.

The pictures of the hotel look very nice. I cannot confirm this however, as I didn't get in the place. The hotel was advertised as having parking, this is untrue., The hotel does not have parking, there are a small number of parking bays outside but these are timed parking bays (so you could not park up and leave your car there for more than 24 hours) but as there is a pub opposite whose car park was totally full the parking bays were occupied, my only other option was to try and find somewhere o one of the streets nearby. However, these streets are either residential or have double yellow lines so parking was a massive 'No No'. I didn't receive check in instructions as other people have stated here so I rang the door bell to ask about the parking situation and to check in only to be told over the intercom system by a really obnoxious lady (the host couldn't be bothered to come to the door to speak to me) that I wasn't allowed in because I was early. OK, fair enough I was early so couldn't check in to my room but I expected to be able to use communal areas of the hotel. However, I was more concerned about getting a parking ticket so I asked again about where I could park my car to be told check your email (which I did not have). The unfriendly host of this establishment point blank refused to answer my questions but send me the email instead which I found to be rude, unprofessional and not very hospitable, this was exasperated as it was raining. and I was cold and wet so I decided to cancel my room even though I was stood on the doorstep and would lose 100% of the cost of my room. Instead I Booked into another hotel close by and had a great stay. I would not recommend anybody visiting the Riverside Inn, especially if you are arriving by car and extra especially if you think you may arrive earlier than the check-in time. This hotelier is probably in the wrong line of work. I would think that to be in this industry you would need certain inter-personal skills and a level of friendliness that makes everybody feel welcome, unfortunately my experience would suggest this angry lady has non of these things. If you are staying in Ely then do your self a favour and book into another venue nearby, there are plenty to choose from that offer the kind of stay you expect for about the same money or less.
