全球飯店(The Globe)

What a fabulous stay at The Globe, Topsham. I was staying on my own; there for the walking and photography, so feeling relaxed and supported in an unfamiliar hotel, and area, is really important to me. The Globe really delivered the goods. Firstly, the room was just right for my needs, and even had a fridge, which was greatly appreciated and well used. Secondly, I don't ear meat, but will eat fish and vegetarian dishes, and The Globe had plenty of great food on offer. The cauliflower soup is not to be missed. Finally, what really makes a great hotel for me is the care that all the staff take in ensuring you are put at your ease, who are prompt and helpful with service, and in answering questions clearly and making suggestions. I can't fault the staff at the Globe for the standard they maintained in all of these areas, from my arrival, to my departure. Special mention, and a big 'thank you', to the manager, Stuart, and his staff, including, Polly, Chloe and Nikki. I'll be back!

A really nice room in the old part of the hotel. I was very pleased with my one night stay and will be returning. Great location in Topsham and the car park is a short walk away. There was a Spanish night in the bar which looked good. Had a good breakfast and then coffee in the courtyard:very good! The staff were all very helpful and nice.

I was not going to write a review of my dire visit to The Globe, but as they have asked for one, here goes. I am nearly 71 and have some slight mobility issues. My room was up a steep outside metal fire escape with a handrail on only one side. When I arrived on Sunday 7th May, the receptionist on duty kindly took my case up these stairs. When I left the next morning these stairs were dangerously wet and I felt very unsafe going down them. I asked the (different) man on reception to get someone to take my case down them in case I fell, he said there was no one available until 11.00am. I then said I would go for a walk into the town till then. He replied that if I did not vacate by 10.30am I would have to pay for an extra night! Although we had never met before, he then launched into a personal attack, telling me what an awful guest I had been. I stayed silent, just let him rant on, paid up, and cancelled the booking I had made for a couple of nights later. As I was struggling down the fire escape with my case, a very kind worker in the kitchen saw me and ran up to me and helped me down with my case. Other issues were that I was awakened at around 6.45 on the morning of the coronation bank holiday to the banging of the bin men. Then when I went down to breakfast at 7.30 I was told that as it was a bank holiday, I could not be served till 8.00. When I finally got my breakfast I had to eat it to the sound of the draymen rolling noisy beer barrels a few feet behind me. Please avoid staying here until the management changes.

Nice sized twin room overlooking the courtyard. Great bathroom. Clean spacious. Good tea/coffee in room. Doggy treats in room. Unfortunately didn't try cooked breakfast as the gas wasn't working.

Topsham is a beautiful town on the Exe estuary which I have visited many times over the years. However, I hadn't stayed at The Globe since the late 90s, so was curious to see what it was like. It's a lovely old coaching inn, with a bar and restaurant attached. I stayed one night in a room in the main house, which was spacious and spotlessly clean (as was the bathroom). I had a great plate of fish and chips in the restaurant, served by attentive and friendly staff. I felt very comfortable staying there on my own, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other travellers. I came by train - if you are driving there will be some challenges to parking, but not a problem if you plan ahead! Lots of beautiful walks to be had in the area, as well as small independent shops and cafes to explore.

Great hotel. Good base for that part of the UK (never found anything as good in Exeter) & have used regularly over the years. Breakfast very good as well. Parking can be a bit of an issue until you realise that long term car pack is ＜5min walk away

An excellent 4 day stay, very good food, especially breakfast. Great location! The access to our room was by a steep staircase which my wife & myself found quite difficult, but we could have booked a ground floor room if we had thought about it!!

Great location, friendly staff and lots of outdoor seating made this an ideal place to stay for a visit to beautiful Topsham. Lovely weather helped! Be sure to walk to the end of the town and do the Goat walk then go round the corner and continue to a lovely nature reserve.

We picked The Globe as it was in Central Topsham walkable from the railway station. Very pleased with our ground floor room. Clean, comfortable and roomy. Shower door needs adjusting as we couldn't completely close it. We had evening meal and breakfast in the hotel. All the food was great we both enjoyed the meals. Great selection and choices for breakfast. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We would stay again. Our room whilst being good is starting to look a little tired. We hope that The Globe continues to maintain its high standards.
