We had stayed at the same hotel chain in Outerbanks for Thanksgiving, and it was great, so without giving much thought, decided on choosing Holiday Inn Express. However, although it was Christmas Eve day, we arrived at almost 2 but were made to wait until 3 for the check in. I understand that’s the check in time but sometimes if they have the room they would just check us in. They gave us a room which was filthy, with both live and dead bugs in it, visible ones and a whole bunch. We took a picture and showed it at the front desk, they moved us to another room immediately. In the second room, the toilet paper was half way gone and the bathroom light barely lit. We told this to the receptionist because we couldn’t see a thing and we also needed more paper, they changed us to another room again. The last room had the same amount of toilet paper but at least had a better light. The staff was nice but didn’t do much other than move sus around to help. It wasn’t a nice experience. We were going to stay for three night but two were more than enough. Now we are waiting for the reimbursement of the third night, hopefully it will be done on the time promised.
