Lovely stay. Staff were professional and helpful. Beautifully located a short walk from town

On check in I was charged for my room despite having pre-paid online. When this mistake was noticed by myself it was rectified and a refund was given but was made to feel like I was causing them hassle. Unfortunately the hotel has seen better days and are short staffed so only a car very dinner was available, which was disappointing. The restaurant staff who were there were pleasant and hard working.

We visited here as a wedding anniversary celebration i did check reviews prior to booking so knew it was going to be a risk here. Room was sort of clean. Needed lots of tlc bathroom clean however stains on bottom of divan bed on floor near radiator where it had leaked. Weird black stains on bath didnt feel clean to use. We had a dog with us so we knew it wasn't going to be amazing spotless. Place was like what other reviews said needs a lot if money spent on it to get it up to standard. Staff was nice food was lovely but dont think we would return

The hotel is large, and was obviously pretty grand in its heyday. Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. Everything is tired and jaded. The room was spacious and the bed large and comfortable. However we were on the ground floor with a view straight into a car parked side-on right outside the window. There were scuffs and marks on the wall, the sheets had holes in, and the ceiling was starting to look crumbly and hastily repaired. There was also the most irritating rumbling noise throughout the night, which i can only deduce was the ancient lift. The breakfast was fine, but one of the staff was wearing airpods the whole time and we had to ask for glasses and plates as there were none at the self-serve stations. Just generally a bit disappointing all round.

Stayed one night with my sister to attend a funeral. Comfortable, warm, plenty hot.water. Easy to walk into Grange or along prom from hotel. Great views across bay & sunrise from breakfast room. Woodland walk signposted but didn’t have time to explore

This was my second stay at this hotel and this stay was as fantastic as the first one, the staff were polite and helpful and the food was fantastic.

Booked the Cumbria Grand Hotel for 1night on Sept 20th to visit our daughter and Grandson who live in Grange as it is described as 'Doggy Friendly' which it is definately NOT. We were charged £15 for the dog and not even a water bowl provided in the room. Fortunately we brought our own but in all the hotels we have ever stayed in with our dog, we have never had to use our own. She was not allowed in the bar or restaurant so we had to sit in a tiny side room to eat on our own. Only 1 very dim light working in the room and we had to eat our meal by the torch on my mobile as it became darker. Our bedroom No 125 had a lovely view but thats all! The ceiling paper was coming down, the bathroom was so small that the door didn't open because it hit the bath side. The bath side panel was falling in under the bath the sink was very cracked and so was the bath. The bathroom door had to be closed upon entering as the sink was behind it as it was so small! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone especially if they were taking a dog. We were made to feel like Lepers. Definately NOT a dog friendly hotel and should have it removed from the description! Very disappointed.

Property had obviously been very grand at one time, and retains interesting features and architecture. But it was really tired and dated. We had to access our 3rd floor room via the only route available which was a 1970s fire escape staircase. Weren't sure how we were to evacuate if there was a fire between us and that staircase. The lift wasn't working, and when it was 'fixed' it was so scary we elected to continue to use the stairs. Corridors were fitted with economy lighting which flickered on and off and with the long corridors, were reminiscent of The Shinning. Finally chairs in the dining room were filthy with old stains. Breakfast was good however, with great quality sausages and bacon.
