舒適套房飯店-DFW N/葡萄藤(Comfort Suites DFW N-Grapevine)

I chose this hotel because it had shuttle service from DFW. I was told that this service was available until 1am, but when I arrived at 11:30pm and called the number posted, it turned out to be a corporate number that spent 10 minutes trying to sign me up for their corporate services. When they finally got me to the help desk person, she could not communicate with the hotel. She finally tracked down someone in the hotel 45 minutes later to send out the shuttle at 12:45pm, and I didn't get to the hotel until 1pm, losing over an hour of sleep. The shuttle driver and and front desk man were nice and helpful. But I had breakfast at 7:30am, well before the 9am close, and they had already run out of many food items with no one there to help get more. I have had good experiences with Comfort Inn in the past, but not this time.

The hotel was close and convenient to DFW which was what I needed for an overnight layover. The room itself was basic but clean and spacious. The checkin process was smooth and quick. The shuttle to the hotel wasn't too bad and didn't have to wait too long. The shuttle back to DFW was actually 20 minutes late. The hotel had go get me a Lyft or I would have missed my flight. That's a pretty big hiccup for a hotel that is effectively an airport stopover hotel. Otherwise the stay was convenient.

The fire alarm in our room sounded while I was in the shower. My daughter ran into the bathroom in a panic. I asked her to call down to the front desk to find out if infact there was an emergency. She ran to the phone and tried calling. Unfortunately, the phone was not plugged in, nor was there a cord. The phone was simply a piece of decor. Thankfully there was not an emergency. I notified the front desk at check out but the young lady did not seem to be bothered by the fact that the handicap room did not have a working phone.

The room was neat and clean. It had an odor like it had been smoked in even though it was a non smoking room. We did not eat breakfast or use the dining area at all.

When I checked in there was a sign at the front desk saying someone would be right back. I waited over 10 minutes for someone to arrive. The room had a musty smell. After a long day, i was too exhausted to ask for a new room and turning on the fan to pull in outside air which helped. In the morning, I noticed that overnight some of the ceiling plaster in the bathroom had fallen down due to water damage. I suspect this was the source of the musty smell. Lastly, I did have to leave early on a 6am shuttle which was on time and helpful. Breakfast was supposed to start at 6am when I left but they had stuff out so I grabbed a bagel and egg patty with cheese in it to make a sandwich. Unfortunately everything was cold (the cheese was borderline frozen). I know I was 5 min early, but I think they didn't warm it up in the kitchen and instead were planning on the warming trays to heat it up. On how cold it was I'd guess they would still be only luke warm at 6:15.

Check-in was a breeze, staff very friendly and helpful. My only issue was the condition of the room (508). Upon entering, we were hit with a strong musty odor, appeared to be from the previous guest. It was a strong combination of body odor and very cheap cologne. The odor permeated throughout the entire room, into the bathroom and the bed. I took some baby wipes I had in my bag and gave the entire place a good wipe down along with some peppermint oil to mask the smell. I don’t think the pillow cases were changed because I noticed some stains and crusty things in one side so I placed the pillow on the bench across the room. Honestly, this place isn’t horrible, it just needs a really good deep clean. The carpets are stained and odorous, the furniture is outdated and chipped, the chairs are stained and ripped. I probably won’t stay here again. But, the staff are very friendly.
