We paid extra for a junior suite with a lake view and we were not disappointed with the lovely view of the lake and the Canadian mountains. The suite was smaller than we expected, the wood work was damaged and the furniture tired. We needed to untangle all the cord of the Venetian blinds and when they were fully closed the room was still not dark. A lamp in the room had a short and they came and replaced the lamp. The room did not have a do not disturb sign and we were awakened by a knock on our door at 8:30am by housekeeping asking if we wanted the room cleaned. The bathroom was so small that if someone opened the door while you were using the toilet, your knees were at serious risk. The shower had weak water pressure and although I encourage conservation, the water fluctuated between hot and cold making showering almost impossible. When I reached for the shower gel, the container was empty. The front desk was attentive and the concierge Mitch was very helpful. This quality of accommodation would be unacceptable for any luxury hotel especially a Fairmont. Since this was the most expensive hotel on our cross country driving trip we felt foolish for not heeding other TripAdvisor negative reviews.
