Lovely accommodation. Big room with good facilities. This hotel 8s best suited to large groups. The Gin Bar is so far way from reception, and lacks atmosphere. The food, and service was good. It days a few days to find anywhere. On Sunday evening we were ushered to our rooms at 8.30pm as the electricity was to be turned off.

Misty Hills Country Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. The thatched-roof bungalows are spacious with lovely interior décor and furniture, and are laid out along many winding brick paths in a lush tropical setting with flowers, shrubs, and trees, some with botanical labels on them. Along the paths are many splendid African art carvings, statues, small flowing brooks, ponds, and beautiful scenic views. The grounds have been meticulously planned and laid out, as have the rooms and buildings on the many acres in this resort. Each room, dining area, meeting room, and the reception area are adorned with African art—sculptures, paintings, and historic artefacts/memorabilia, with windows that look out in to the tropical gardens and trees. The service is first class. The accompanying huge breakfast buffet has dozens of choices of fresh fruit, warm and cold meats, special dishes, cheeses, cereals, and pastries, with several people ready to cook any personal preference you may have, as well as table service in the large dining hall with its African motif surrounding you. Of course, the world-renowned Carnivore restaurant is on the Misty Hills grounds and is a real treat for those who enjoy a meal of game in a festive setting with meat delivered to your table on large skewers. There is also a nice dining room with a good lunch and dinner menu adjacent to the reception area. In every way, this hotel is great and a wonderful experience; we’re from Canada and have returned every time we’re in the Johannesburg area.

The food was tasty, pool clean, service from staff was amazing, our room was clean and smelled fresh...no bad vibes. It was such a relaxing experience, I would love to go back with my family next time.

I have been to the hotel before but never stayed over so was not sure what to expect. The staff were amazing, especially the front desk. I went on a winter break special and was upgraded for my birthday to an executive suit. Everything was made to feel like I was the only guest there as the staff were always helpful, cheerful. Food for breakfast and dinner which was included was buffet with an option of A La Carte. Breakfast buffet was huge and could set you up for the whole day. I spent my birthday night at the famous Carnivore Restaurant which has to be experienced once in your life or a hundred times. The Maitre D was excellent and asset to the restaurant, greeting me by name as I arrived and the service was again awesome. It is good to see they have kept maintaining the hotel mostly during the slow down of the last few years. I would definitely recommend visiting and staying as long as you can. There is so much to explore in the hotel grounds and surrounding areas. A Very Big Thank You to all the staff for the enjoyable stay from the guy driving the golf buggy, restaurants staff, front desk. See you next year

The hotel and facilities are of top quality unfortunately we as the group we did not enjoy the food at the restaurant next to the Bar. They seem to be not preparing fresh food and have limit choice not catering for those who eat either white meat or red meat at the time. Consider a buffet style of catering.

Absolutely Fantastic, we felt rejuvenated , rooms perfect, service perfect, breakfast to die for myself and Tony my husband relaxed and enjoyed every minute, Misty Hills we love you, we've been visiting you since 2007 and every time is unique! Keep it up love Tony and Wilna Smit

The worst expérience ever. The hôtel is looking very nice but.... We had a very bad experience. From the restaurant with the staff watching football game on tv and refusing to serve you food, to the room next to the generator with a terrible noise from 6am. The manager on duty being rude and finding excuses blaming our guide instead of trying to find solutions. Housekeeping opening the door at 6.45 to clean the room. I will not write more bécasse I want to enjoy my Last Day in South Africa. Regards OL

The room I was in was poorly. It was set up for people that are 6foot7 at least. Sitting in front of the mirror I could not see my face. The towel/clothes hook was way out of reach (and I am not that short). A list of available TV channels will be appreciated. The one highlight of this stay is the staff. Very friendly and extremely helpful. We'll done to all the staff.

My wife and I always look forward to our breaks at Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa. Let me start of by saying that the Carnivore Restaurant experience is second to none. Besides the variety of the exotic meats available, the service is exceptional. Welcome. Sylvester, Mr Dawa and Melody and Mandla (now promoted) always makes our experience full of memories and we will continue to visit for many years to come. This being our Wedding Anniversary weekend, it was made even more special by the Reception Staff who prepared our room so beautifully. I cannot however say the same for the Gin Box…. On Saturday afternoon (11TH March 2023), after a relaxing visit to the Spa for treatments, we decided that the Gin Box will be our haven where we could relax , have lunch and me being an avid football fan watch a game of English Football on the telly. Alas, how I was mistaken. I approached the Gin Box manager to change the channel on the telly to English Premier League (EPL) sand I was informed that they were instructed not to change the channels and only the GM could change. I asked if he could go and arrange. He duly made his way to Reception and after some time I queried his whereabouts, and he came through and advised that the GM could not be found. I then made my way to Reception and was met by the Duty Manager who after I vented my frustrated advised that this was not the case and that the channel could be changed. I made my way back to Gin Box and by then the match that I wanted to watch had already started. I asked for the Manager again and after some time I was met by someone who introduced himself as the most senior person on site, at the moment, the F&B Manager. He attitude and demeanour was quite condescending and he advised that there was nothing he could do as there was a hotel package installed and the channel could not be changed. I informed him that I had sat here, at the Gin Box, previously and watched EPL. He shrugged that comment off and was about to make his way, when I informed him that I was going to escalated to a higher authority. With a no care look on his face he advised that I could proceed and the impression that I got was that he didn’t care because he knew nothing will be done about my concerns. I calmed myself down (my wife did actually) and we had lunch and then made our way to the accommodation where I watch the remainder of the match on my phone. The staff at Gin Box and your F&B Manager need to take out a page from Carnivore’s current and ex staff on how customers need to be treated and taken care off even if issues are not resolved. Maybe some sort of training sessions so that the Carnivore guys attitudes and skills can rub off to the rest.
