Excellent. They make you feel like you’re their special guest at their home and everything is well thought out in order to maximise your comfort. Garden was beautifully curated and the kiseki was exquisite as well. Definitely go for the half board option if it’s available! Thank you for the unforgettable experience.

The location of Yuzuya Ryokan was superb, which was strategically positioned right beside the Yasaka Shrine. As such, you could visit the Yasaka Shrine anytime, which looked exceptionally beautiful at night. The staffs were helpful and great attention were paid to every single detail during the stay, from the daily floral arrangement in the room to the meal arrangement. The staffs displayed great professionalism and hospitality. I enjoyed my stay tremendously and would definitely recommend my friends and family to stay with Yuzuya Ryokan should they be visiting Kyoto in the future.

八坂神社旁邊一個可愛的隱蔽日式旅館。氣氛寧靜而傳統。這確實是舊日本的經歷。飯菜是五星級的，配有漂亮的古董菜餚。我真的很喜歡漂浮酸橙的清爽溫泉體驗。強烈推薦。我們從 Kimonorental Yumekyoto 租了當天的和服，讓體驗更加愉快。

I am sad to write this review, Kyoto is a beautiful place and I was excited to experience a traditional Ryokan. I travel frequently (15+ countries this year) and this is by far my worst experience at a hotel. I write as a warning to other travelers. The hotel itself is gorgeous, very peaceful and in an awesome location, however it ends there. - A set dinner and breakfast is provided. I notified the hotel that I do not eat seafood and was informed that all dishes for breakfast and dinner contain this. I replied back saying i would try it. Ni accommodation was at any point offered. If you have dietary requirements they will not be considered. I sampled all the dishes at dinner however at breakfast did not want fish and asked twice for a piece of toast and coffee and was refused. - I was stopping in transit on my way from the US back to Australia to care for my elderly mother who has cancer. Some documentation needed to be completed the morning of my checkout (unexpected). I asked for an 11.20 checkout instead of 11am, as I was a bit behind from the paperwork and a walk to grab a sandwich outside the hotel (not allowed any outside food in). Despite sharing the reasons for the 20 minute delay with the hotel they refused. They told me check out the was 11. I was so shocked by their lack of empathy and coldness that I was bought to tears, at which point they also handed me a check and smiled and confirmed the 11am check in. A friends hotel let me have a shower and repack my case there. - There are steep stairs in and out of the Ryokan, I was not helped either way. This was dangerous as a small solo female on the steep rock stairs. The staff actually left my bag on the floor near the door, watched me struggle with my case and then went back to the counter without saying goodbye as I left. Attaching a video for reference. - The Ryokan also has a curfew of no later that 12am. I only one night in Kyoto and wanted to explore after dinner. I believe this is normal in some Ryokans, however they did not seem happy when I had to ask ‘to please come back in at 11.30’. I would love to have stayed out with some friends I met and enjoy the evening but had to be back by an agreed time, which is disappointing if you are out having a good time. Overall I would highly recommend a Ryokan experience, however it was the way I was ignored, looked down upon, watched struggle with my bags and left to head to the airport on an international flight, rushed out the door with no shower (I could not shower the night before as there were no towels in my room) or accommodation for any dietary request that I leave this review. I felt looked down upon and disrespected. As I said I travel frequently and stay in hotels ranging from $100 USD per night through to $1500 USD per night and have never been treated so poorly.
