Love this hotel. Have it 4 out of 5 stars as the rooms do show slight wear and the location means lots of taxis. But the service is above average as the staff gets five stars. Also, the rooms really grow on you and the bathtubs are amazing after a long day walking. Stayed with friends and tall husband expressed great appreciation for the shower (amazing water pressure and height for a tall guy). Got the traditional Japanese breakfast which was hearty and varied enough that the picky eaters had enough to eat. Was a good option as the rooms were large enough for all of us to sit around on the tatami mats of raised platform and enjoy. We were on the first floor and will warn that romping children on above floor platforms could be heard but luckily only around dinner time. Rooms were quiet and comfortable at night. They were a bit cave-like as the street side window meant we kept the shades down. But putting on music and lounging in the giant tub with continual heat and waterfall meant minor complaints were forgotten. Small complaints: distance to things. Light in bathroom turns on automatically and because of glass between bathroom and bedroom may mean light waking person in bedroom in middle of night. Would suggest hotel design a night light option for bathroom (ability to dim?) Prose: Excellent staff. Room sizes and of course the amazing zen bathtubs.
