I've always wanted to stay at this particular hotel for a good many number of years. The imposing building on Alfred Rewane Road was a structure I couldn't help but notice on numerous trips to Lagos. Besides, it's right next door to one of my all time favorite Chinese Restaurants in Nigeria. This is when it was known as Southern Sun. Was surprised to see that this enduring South African Hotel Chain had 'swapped' names, and it now a part of the Swiss Mövenpick Hotel Group. Nevertheless, it would still remain on my bucket list of Lagos hotels to stay in. This year I finally got my wish and booked a one day stay with my 2 teenage daughters on a short business trip. As I 'customarily' do, I'll divide this review into the positives and negatives based on my/our experience(s). PROS: First of all, I loved the stunning lobby of Mövenpick Hotel Lagos. It was elegantly, yet simply decorated with a grand baby piano, vibrant, eye-popping artwork- mostly notably African murals. Copper wire structures and large clay pots were rife as well. Check out my posted pictures. The refreshing 'red' welcome drink was a nice touch! 🍷😋 We were checked in by AMAKA IHEDIKE. Amaka was courteous and friendly. Throughout the course of our very short stay, I interacted with AKWEKA, JOE and JOSHUA (at check out). All were very polite and professional. Our room had warm, contemporary decor that was a soft mix of pale and dark colors with the liberal use of dark brown/black wood. It had 2 expansive, comfortable queen beds with crisp white linen. I was informed by Amaka at the reception that the room could accommodate up to 4 people. I greatly appreciated that fact because some hotels don't accept this. They would have you pay an additional fee for an extra person, or get another room altogether, so hallelujah for that! The room's a.c was extraordinarily cold, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially in a country with a hot and tropical climate like Nigeria, so this is definitely a pro. The mini bar was well stocked and the room had a safe, kettle and tea condiments. The Room Service/In Room Dining was plentiful, though we didn't get to try anything from it. Our room was on the 9th floor, and it was at the exterior of the hotel, but we did have an okay view of the lush shrubbery, trees and bushes of the back streets and alley ways of Ikoyi. The main restaurant of Mövenpick Hotel served Breakfast from 6:30a.m to 10:30a.m, Lunch from 12:30p.m to 3:30p.m and Dinner 6:30p.m to 10:30p.m. They offer Sunday Brunch from 12 noon to 4p.m and an A La Carte Menu is available 24 hours. The restaurant was medium sized, yet very attractive. There was bar to the right side of it, and what appeared to be the hotel's swimming pool to the left, through some glass sliding doors, though I'm not entirely sure. Also not sure if they have a Spa and Gym. The breakfast buffet at Mövenpick Hotel was impressive, even though I have to say that I expected a little more from a 4-5 Star Hotel. T
