For this style of hostel, it was pretty OK. The ensuite room was a little bit bigger than the double bed. The bed itself was comfortable. The room was clean and tidy. The communal area was spacious, with lots of room for cooking. There were two big fridges for lodgers to store their perishable goods. They have a system where you put your name, room number and date of departure on your food. We put a pack of smoked salmon and it was still there the next day:-) It's located within 10 minutes walk from Lake Tekapo and the main restaurants near the lake. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 is because they didn't refill the shower gel and shampoo dispenser in the bathroom.
Booked 1 night accommodation through an on-line booking site (Expedia). Unfortunately there was a problem with the booking in that they hadn't included my child in the booking so the accommodation booked (motel room) could only accommodate 2 people. Thankfully the staff were fantastic and managed to find us an alternative option for no extra cost. The cabin we stayed in was fantastic and the place has undergone a massive upgrade since we last stayed here in 2011. The cabin was clean, cosy and we had everything we needed for our staff. Great BBQ available outside of the cabin which we made use of for dinner & brekkie and location is superb. An adventure when travelling with a 6 year old as accommodation felt very safe. (lots of families around due to scholl holidays). Easy 5 min stroll to Tekapo Hot Springs. Would recommend and advise to just book directly with the accommodation rather than an on-line secondary service.
We stayed here for 3 nights in a Premier Apartment during an exreme weather event - lots of snow! The place was super comfortable and warm. Everything was provided and we had an enjoyabe stay. There is a large bathroom with a large bath - very modern. We even had a garage to ourselves. The managers are very nice - Ivan even came and checked up on us to see if we were ago during the snow storm. This concern was very appreciated.
This is one of the best motels I have ever stayed in. It is a 5-Star in my book! The hostess is lovely and very helpful. You get everything you could need. The property is finished to a very high standard. You get a designer bath, a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher and cooking facilities. The views over the lake are fantastic. It takes around 10 minutes to walk into town. For a short stay, this place is the tops!

This might be the first time I’ve stayed in a purpose-built BnB. Our hosts, Ann-Maree and Sab, bought a lot on a hillside with a view of Lake Tekapo, and then built a home with a wing that contains three guest rooms. My room was simple but comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, a balcony, a well-appointed bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Guests have access to a living/dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable couches, and a picnic-style breakfast table. This design gives both guests and hosts privacy. Yet when relaxing in the living room, Anne-Maree and Sab are always happy to chat with guests and provide information about the area. Breakfast is plentiful. Guests order hot items the night before. When morning comes we were treated first with juice and a hot beverage followed by toast, eggs, bacon, or whatever we ordered. Cold items, like cereal, are also available. Restaurants are a short walk to town, about 15 minutes, using a trail that starts at the BnB. Alternatively, you can drive, but I enjoyed walking.
We chose the upstairs family room with a view, we were not disappointed, a view straight down the lake, wow. The beds were comfortable, we had enough room for all of us, kitchen was adequate and the large bathroom was good. The lady in reception was very helpful with recommendations for dinner, breakfast, activities not just in Tekapo but around the MacKenzie Country. We have recommended this place to family and friends already, you will not be disappointed.
