羅巴克客棧(The Roebuck Inn)

Visited The Roebuck for a family celebration. I was the only one in our group to order a starter. The chef thought it was perfectly ok to serve my starter alongside my main course. By the time I had finished the starter my main course was cold. Presumably it was easier for the chef to deliver all the groups main dishes. The moral of this tale is not to order a starter if you want your main course hot.

Popped in 'on spec' on our way home from Brighton to see if we could be accommodated for a spot of Sunday lunch and were directed to a table for two. Placed an order for drinks and for two 'starters' at the same time. We were still waiting for our food almost an hour later! On hearing us grumbling we were told by one of the waitresses that there was some sort of problem with their computer system and our order had not gone to the kitchen! However, we received no apology from anyone. The staff continually walked past our table - which was right next to the bar - and it did not occur to anyone that we had not received our food! We were on the verge of walking out as the food arrived (we wouldn't have been the only couple to walk out, as we noticed another couple who arrived after us, do just that). The food was tasty enough, but nowhere near hot enough for our liking, which spoilt our enjoyment of it even more! And they had the temerity to charge us a service charge! We left very disappointed and also very cross! What was meant to be a small treat was anything but! Needless to say, we will not be returning and will not be recommending them to our friends.

We hired the function room for a Christmas meal. The food was great, venue was perfect and the staff were fantastic. I would highly recommend , we have booked again for next year. Reasonably priced and all the guests enjoyed themselves, five star review

Went today for Sunday lunch. Omg, don't think we will go anywhere else. It was delicious. Got the Regency Bus from Hellingly, it took 10 mins and was £2!! Wonderful food, wonderful staff. Roast Beef was amazing. Lovely Cocktails and lovely atmosphere.

We treated ourselves to the Christmas Dinner experience - it was amazing. The food was incredible and the staff were so friendly and attentive - it was stunning and I am grateful to all the staff for giving up their Christmas Day - thank you!

A memorable Christmas Dinner. I'm in an Old Boy's club (Yes, silly handshakes, no, not the Masons) and our Lodge likes to thank the Ladies for putting up with us all year - I'd heard good things, but this is A: A fantastic, well presented and welcoming country pub with a large function room and B: Some of the best food I've had in 56 years. C:? The staff were attentive, helpful and treated us like old friends - The Mrs and self had the pork - beautifully cooked from fine cuts and none of that 'I need a toothpick' after! The vegetables were all so local they could have had an Olde Sussex accent and the desserts left us gasping. (I had profiterole/choc sauce, but the Christmas Crumble was amazing too) MASSIVE portions and the Chef came out personally to chat (He'll spill some secrets of the trade if you fancy raising your game) Thoroughly recommend The Roebuck to anyone after a special meal - PS The Gent's is worth a look, if only for the quirky fittings...

A very nice welcome, log fires roaring and a good range of beers on offer. My wife and I had a traditional Sunday roast and although I enjoyed mine came with everything piled on top of each other and smothered with very thick gravy. I know this seems the way that a lot of restaurants want to serve their food nowadays but it can look more of a challenge than an appetising dish. This immediately puts my wife off and I wasn’t sure weather to eat mine or climb it.

We dropped in at the Roebuck Inn having passed it many times. Good welcome & interesting bar lounge. Drinks were instant & order was taken efficiently & promptly. Nearly half an hour passed before our mains order appeared, after the other couple of patrons had been served. Battered haddock meal was standard pub fare but my wife’s steak & ale pie was poor, meat tough & the vegetables alongside were excessively ‘al dente’ to raw. An adjustment was made to our bill & profuse apologies offered for the food quality. Not the most rewarding of experiences, sadly.

We were given a gift voucher to spend on lunch or dinner as we were staying in the area and this pub came highly recommended. We chose Sunday lunch and had the roast beef - was absolutely the best Sunday roast we have had in 12 months of being in the UK. The meat was juicy and tender, the vegies perfectly roasted, the brownie dessert was fabulous. Would highly recommend for a fab experience. And the service was also welcoming and efficient, even though the pub was packed with people. Thank you :-)
