Absolutely lovely stay, very comfortable, clean and welcoming. Older style rooms but in a homely way. Nice area, easy access and parking Close to town but lively and quiet Great welcome and being pet friendly it made out king trip from Canterbury to Hamilton that much easier. Would make it a stop anytime

Three of us stayed here for 2 nights. The managers gave us a warm & friendly welcome, even holding an umbrella & assisting my 80 year old mother into our unit, due to our arrival in the dark & rain. Our unit was older style, but everything was very clean & the gas heater, while somewhat ancient, soon had the room warm & cosy. Beds were comfortable, shower was great & we were amazed at the quietness. This motel has been used as emergency housing in the past, however the managers are now in the process of refurbishing. It is nothing fancy, but we would happily stay here again. Our only negative comment is the strong smell of cigarette smoke near reception, however our unit did not smell of smoke. The managers are very personable and bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed, which was much appreciated. If you want basic, affordable, clean, quiet accommodation with friendly service, Totara Lodge is the place!

Basic budget hotel with a few frills. Good value for money - old fashioned but serviceable and spotlessly clean. Friendly service and a good location. Soundproofing not great but on a winter weekday I had no issues. Motel is conveniently located - set back enough from the highway to be quiet but close enough that shops/restaurants are an easy walk.

Room was very generous in size, was lovely and clean. Bed was super comfortable and was lovely and warm all night, head pump was the quietest I’ve ever used. Kitchen had everything you would need. Great value for money and awesome location. We would definitely stay again :-)

Older style motel, very good location off main road with all facilities provided including heat pump for cool winter nights. Many fast food outlets & restaurants are nearby. The 1 bedroom unit was spotlessly clean and rate was very good for overnight stay. Recommended.

Really friendly motel, very convenient location for getting the Picton ferry. An older style motel, Comfortable, clean, warm and quiet. Staff were really helpful and welcoming. I would stay here again.

Reception smelled of stale cigarette smoke but have to say the unit was clean and didn't smell. Retro feel to it.

Lovely place to stay, was cheap for the night and a really easy place to find. Close to town and lively owners would highly recommended...🙂

Lovely owner/manager, made us feel very welcome. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were plump and firm, much to my liking. The room was spotless and the kitchenette was well equipped. My only negative is that the fridge hummed quite loudly in the night and my bed was in the main room so it woke me up a few times. It didn’t bother my roomie, though. There is a beautiful and friendly cat on site who was the highlight.
