考艾礁湖卡蘭尼普萬豪飯店(Marriott's Kauai Lagoons - Kalanipu'u)

Awesome views, the landscaping is spectacular, the rooms (we had a 2 BR) are big and clean. We had a view of the pool and the bay which was stunning. This is a calm and relaxing resort in a secluded area of the Island surrounded by a golf course, the bay, lagoons another Marriott resort and, oh yeah the Airport. Even though the place is near the airport, it is not a very active airport so it really isn't an issue. The staff is great as well. The one thing this is NOT is a beach resort. They do have beach chairs available to take to other beaches but there is no beach here. Since it is a Hawaiian resort you might assume there is a beach. There is no beach. However, knowing that going in you can find other beautiful beaches on the island. You are allowed to use the beach at the other Marriott resort down the street, but since this fair skinned Irish lad needs shade, without an umbrella, this was not an option for us. Also, there is no restaurant or bar on premises. This is not that uncommon for Marriott Vacation locations. We have stayed in two other locations that were also sans bar and restaurant, Tucson Arizona and Absecon NJ, but still it would be nice to have a pool bar. Not sure why they don't, as there is plenty of room for one. All-in-all, if you set your expectations based on what this place does NOT have, it really is a lovely place. Very lovely, in fact.

Many of my faithful readers will know I've stayed a lot at different Marriotts both in Europe and rhe US. And they may seem similar in many ways. Good and friendly service. Apart from most of their hotels, situated a few miles from the city centre. Good and spacious flats often called villas for some reason I don't fathom. Nice pools, this one here not very big , and superb cleanliness. Well kept parkareas and quiet surroundings. Most customers are either families or OAPs, like me. So why only 4 stars? Well you must have a car , there's no shuttleservice at all. Which is a bit strange since just 10 minutes away The Marriott Sonesta is and they have shuttles. Why not let those also include M Lagoons? Marriotts to me are largely inclusive places, But at this one there is no restaurant and not even a bar. I mean, a bar is not only about food and drink, it's a social thing where you get to meet new faces and learn more about them, and yourself. (And mentioning bars you"ll find 10 to 20 minutes walk away, they close at 10 pm!) So what do you do to eat? Don't bank on the shop usually at Marriotts called markets. The one here isn't a minimarket, it's a nano market. About 30 sq feet and self service with very little to choose from. They didn't even have Coca-Cola! So car is a must and driving to a really great Safeway solves most needs. I mentioned the pool area, there's also a good fitness centre. But there's not much else in terms if activities. Yes, they let you have bikes for 2 hrs, but only to be used on paths around the big golf course close by. The flat had TVs in living- and bedrooms and en suite bathrooms. But I do not understand why there's no way to regulate the showerhead. The balcony is really big and the folding doors from the livingroom opens up a huge place. You can't go down to swim in the sea even though it's only a crafty stone's throw away. You'll need to walk about 15 minutes down through the Sonesta or further. If you don't want to use the many bbqs and firepits there are several restaurants . I tested a few . The Hualani had great reviews so I went there and tried their moonfish. Definitely good but not cheap. And mentioning prices, Kauai is expensive!! I noticed several reviews about the Marriotts at Doral in Miami complained about the closeness to the airport. The Lagoons is also very close but you don't notice the planes, but the helicopters fly out regularly over you heading for Princeville. And the whole island is like staying in a bird sanctuary which I enjoyed, so many different ones and beautiful. So a 4 is correct I presume.

Get it together Marriott!!!!! My parents were required to go to a time share meeting at the neighboring sonesta hotel so my boyfriend and i went to their beach and pool area. i was harassed and threatened by a security guard named dexter because we apparently were not allowed to use the pool or beach chairs since we were not guests. then why have the MANDATORY meeting at the sonesta in the first place? and what do you expect people’s adult kids to do while the parents are in a multiple hours long meeting? The managers were at least apologetic but still made for an unpleasant experience. They should’ve given us day passes for the pool or communicated to the sonesta.

Updated Review: Day 1 We checked in after dark, and woke up to the view from our balcony of the muddy open construction field Day 1; Arrived after dark to wake up to a very disappointing view overlooking a muddy construction field with building of new condo units in the distance. This view was better than the other couple traveling with us. Their guest bedroom window looked out on a solid wall. From the lanai (this is a beautiful balcony off the living room) there is a corner of an ocean view if you look hard left. But you can’t see the beach or waves breaking. No sound of the ocean. Just barely a green belt with walkway next to the construction fences. Day 2 The hotel staff, front desk, and concierge were very understanding and helpful. They helped us change rooms to a more ocean-facing room further from the construction( you can still see the heavy equipment from the new room) but the foreground is view of the landscaped pool area & manicured lawn. Quite an improvement Day 3-5 Our weather everyday started overcast & drizzly, cleared to sun but clouded over for rain again in evening. Two nights had very severe storm & heavy rain. Can’t control the weather…but here you are forced to go out in it whether you want to or not. With no restaurant on site, you either had to plan ahead to shop then cook for yourself in the large well-equipped kitchen- or - head out to your car in the rain & drive the flooded roads in poor visibility to get to a restaurant. I personally don’t like to have to cook while I’m on vacation, so I really missed having ANY on site restaurant option. Note: We did find some great local places in nearby Lihue Day 7 We asked about possible late checkout since our flight home got rescheduled to 11pm. But they said we need to be out at the regular 10am checkout. Why? Because someone else in the tower overlooking the construction has asked to change rooms, so ours has been promised once we are out. Overall: Pros: Staff is friendly & helpful. Living room, kitchen & lanai balcony are very nice—large & well-furnished. One pool & one spa— seemed mostly quiet & easy to find a lounger, but it was Feb & off/on rainy. Cons: No ocean access. Only one medium-sized pool & one spa could be issue if busy. No on/site amenities for drinks or snacks at the pool. NO on-site restaurants. Views: windows in the guest bedrooms all open on the hallway/open walkway and are all fully or partially blocked by the walkway support-walls. The balcony view is very chance-y. Especially those rooms overlooking construction ( and by the look of it, that construction will take most/all 2023 and maybe some of 2024 to complete. When completed, the two/story condos will be between the hotel & the water so it will surely affect the view from many of the rooms) One star rating; Exterior ambiance & amenities are disappointing. Interior of the room very nice. And staffed with good people. I still recommend doing more research to see what else might work be

Here’s the view from our balcony of the muddy open construction field and distant building of new units. Which is better than the other couple traveling with us. Their guest bedroom window looks out on a wall. Not to mention there is the constant heartbeat of construction beeping in the distance. If you listen really hard you can sometimes hear a wave breaking. There is a corner of an ocean view if you look hard left. But you can’t see the beach or waves breaking. Just barely a green belt with walkway next to the construction fences. SOOOOO disappointing! Choose anywhere else.

We will be back!! I had no expectations because there were warnings of construction near by the resort...(but it was far away and in no way a problem)...the Pool was perfect and the gardens and amazing view of the oceans breathtaking but not from the first floor...we stayed on the 2nd level in a 3 bedroom villa...wow...both me and my husband were in disbelief as to the luxurious accommodations and the staff so helpful to your every needs...Awesome...

Big apartment, three tvs and 2 bedrooms and full kitchen with dining table. Pool. But no room service and no way to get to the beach (no beach access).

Context: We were put in this hotel after our flight home was cancelled and thus we didn't have a rental car and were basically trapped here for the day. Pros: - The suite itself was very nice and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Cons: - There was no climate control or AC in the unit, only ceiling fans. We had difficulty sleeping due to being uncomfortably warm and humid. - There is no food on site except for overpriced packaged/snack foods. We had to walk half a mile to find at the next resort. - The suite itself was quite nice, but the "view" from our room was a construction site for a new resort. We couldn't even relax out on the balcony because the construction machines were so noisy (not to mention being such an eyesore)

Very nice place. Only negative is no restaurant onsite.
