We have a great stay in visiting Lugano for the very first time what an amazing place. We stayed mid Dec just as all the xmas festivities were getting under way. Walter au Lac is brilliantly positioned right at the centre of the lake front with everything within 5 mins walk

For the cost and star rating it was a bit disappointing.
Breakfast was good, staff were nice and reception was helpful but the room was dated, mouldy, had smelly plumbing from the shower drains and really let it down. Generally the hotel has a great location with easy funicular access. Could be a gem of a hotel if they updated their rooms.

Stayed 2 nights. Our room was 31 and it had a great view overlooking the lake. Good location for restaurants and walking around town. It was an easy beautiful walk (less then 2 miles) to the funicular, which is a must. The breakfast was very good, with a variety to choose from. The staff was friendly. One thing we did not know is the hotel has a coupon book to get 20-30% off on activities. A side note… the taxi drivers will rip you off. Make sure they turn the meter on.

Great location right on the lake and walking (& funicular) distance to the station. Good breakfast every morning. Comfortable beds, coffee/tea & fridge in room, nice balcony overlooking the lake. Staff at front desk and at breakfast were all very friendly & helpful. We really enjoyed our stay

We stayed only 1 night and loved this hotel. Location was perfect and we had a beautiful view of the lake. Our room was spacious and beds very comfortable. There was a balcony door also. Staff were lovely & welcoming. Location was perfect and easy to access.

Die Lage perfekt,das Personal freundlich,jedoch das Zimmer war kalt die erste Nacht,bis ich mich gemeldet habe an der Rezeption,
Die Türe vom Bad könnte nicht richtig geöffnet werden,da der Boden im Gang sich gelöst hat,ein no go!!!!

Location, location, location! Lovely lake view from my balcony; I could have stayed forever!
Rooms were clean and comfortable, but small. Nice buffet breakfast. I would certainly recommend.
