橡樹賓館(Oak Tree Inn)

Friends and I were staying in Monrovia to go to the Renaissance Faire. This is my second time staying at the Oak Tree Inn. The only things I can say constructively critical about the hotel room are that (1) the toilet could use a good toilet brushing around the water outlets under the rim, and (2) the bath soap felt like it had more abrasive particles in it than soap (it could have made a pretty good analog for Lava Soap). I get it, most hotel soap never gets used and the left-over is thrown away by the hotel staff upon check-out. Just bring your own. Save the planet a bit. Other than that, the staff was great. Always are. Cool little pool. Quiet neighborhood. Highway noise low-ish. I will come back here next year.

The property was in good quiet upscale area in Monrovia/Arcadia that has several restaurants, shopping, art gallery and such much more for tourist. The entire staff from front desk management to the housekeeping was amazing. The room was clean and I had a great view in which I loved. Whenever I fly back in town from Tennessee I will definely stay only at Oaktree Inn.

I live in the area and really wanted to like Oak Tree Inn, but it let me down. The first night was promising: The friendly staff honored my request for a quiet room on the second floor away from the traffic. The carpet and furniture was kind of reddish-brown to hide stains, but not too worn. The best part was the king bed, which was very comfy. I was tired, so slept 10 hours. I was thinking this was a good, low-priced alternative to the big chain hotels nearby. But the second night was awful. The guy in the next room should've been in the hospital. He coughed and wheezed nonstop from midnight to 4:00 a.m., which I could hear loud and clear through the thin walls. Both ice machines stopped working and there was no one to fix them. Then loud mariachi music came blasting from a vehicle in the parking lot the next morning for about 15 minutes. Even worse, while I was trying to sleep, the front desk called me at 8:30 a.m. to ask if I were the one blasting the music! There seemed to be sketchy characters hanging around the parking lot at various times. Bottom line: The staff was nice. The facility was okay. But they can't choose their customers. I guess compared to the nearby chains, you get what you pay for. Regrettably, I won't be coming back.

When I arrived the first night and started to put clothes away, the first drawer I opened had empty beer cans in a trash bag and a red g-string in it. They moved me to another room, I put some leftovers in the fridge. Only to find out the following day that the fridge did not work. The first time I spoke to the lady at the front desk they gave me a $56 discount. When I complained about the fridge, I was told I had to talk to the manager. When o returned from running errands, asked for the manager who from the get go was angry with me. We walked up to the room, him in a huff to look at the fridge. While in the room the manager insinuated that I unplugged the fridge or somehow was at fault for it not working. After the manager was satisfied that the fridge really wasn’t working, we went back to the front desk where he asked me what I wanted. I asked for a full refund, he told me that he couldn’t do it but could give me another $43. I said it really wasn’t good enough, but fine. As I was walking away, I grumbled under my breath and the manager proceeded to yell at me, telling me that I was more than welcome to check out and to stay at a more expensive hotel. Not wanting to get into a shouting match I simply walked out. Yesterday I got my bill from the hotel. But I will ask either ********** to reimburse me or pressure the Hotel for a refund or I will call my bank to dispute the transaction. I included a picture of what was in the drawer.

Rooms old and tired. Not that clean. Air/Heater does not work right. It was my worst experience in many years. The only nice thing was the Check in front desk clerk. She was very pleasant and it was late at night.

Room definitely could have used a bit upgrading, but it was clean and comfortable. No issues finding parking and location was convenient.
