Overall, I cannot stress enough that booking with this hotel is simply not worth your time or money. My organisation booked at Qaribu for a workshop. We booked for a full day workshop in addition to a block of rooms for our workshop facilitators. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was astonishing and we are so disappointed with how Qaribu treated us and our guests. In a nutshell, the staff are rude, and the experience was unprofessional. To be as specific as possible so others do not waste their time- As a workshop venue: The rooms are not actually large enough for the amount of people they claim can fit. We only had about 25 people, so this wasn't an issue for us, but if you are hoping to accommodate more than 30, it will be a very tight fit. The rooms are pretty worn-out and all the table linens are stained. The bathrooms were not well maintained and seemed to be under construction (the flush systems for the toilets were broken- they worked, but were difficult to use because the buttons were missing). Crucially for a business event, the WiFi is not reliable and there are not enough outlets available for use. Additionally, they will charge you extra for a PA system. They hire in an external team, and that team was great, but their set-up will cut down on your space. You should also plan to bring in your own flipchart paper and markers, because although they say it will be provided- we were given no markers and the only paper they provided had already been used by a previous group. Food: the food was mediocre, but charged at expensive prices. We had complaints from guests, and while I don't think it was terrible, there is so much good food in Nairobi- so I see no reason to pay so much money for subpar food here. If you do book, I would suggest seeing about getting other food catered in. We also pre-paid for drinks at the bar for our guests, but the bar staff charged guests for their drinks anyway, and management has refused to compensate us for this. Accommodation: The rooms are fine/basics are covered, but they are not as nice as the photos make them out to be. Our biggest issue with them, again comes back to the lack f professionalism demonstrated by the staff. We booked 9 rooms for both Monday and Tuesday night, and were told rooms would be available from 12pm on Monday. When booking, I informed the person in charge of our reservation that two people would not be arriving until 6am on Tuesday morning. In agreement with the sales manager, we kept their room reservation for the Monday night so that they would be able to check-into their room immediately upon arrival. However, when they arrived, they were told their rooms were not ready, and they were not able to check-in for another 2.5hrs. When we brought this up to the sales manager on the day, he said we would be refunded for the rooms, but since then, management has refused to do so, and is also claiming that we owe them money for early-check-in.
