萬荷里路德飯店(One Holyrood Hotel & Cafe)

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and came across this place. Didn't realise it was a hotel at first. We asked if we could have a table and they said they were fully booked but we were welcome to sit and eat in their lounge. What an amazing place. The lunch was delicious, the service excellent and they have a lovely garden out the back. We bought some cakes to take away and ate them later. They were delicious too.

Please turn the piano down we could not have a conversation. He went on and on and on same style no light and shade it's dreadful. I paid £70 for very good food and service but the din ruined it. Other people were saying the same. We won't go back when there's live music. Shame the food is great quite costly but you don't mind when you get a nice experience but this wasn't.

Quirky multi-purpose building with real warmth running through the whole operation. My room/bed was very comfortable, a huge modern bathroom, and spotlessly clean. Breakfast spot on. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Suspect it’s even better in summer when fuller use can vibe made of the garden. Would happily stay again.

In March, 2022, I was preparing for a couple of firsts! I was traveling to the Isle of Wight for the first time as I was to deliver my first TEDx talk! It was late when I arrived at Holyrood. I was famished, but the restaurant was closed and the delightful lobby sitting room was quiet. Sebastian to the rescue! The night manager/chef was more than happy to help. He whipped up a delicious poached eggs with smashed avocado on toast and I was fed and tucked into my lovely top floor room in no time. In the morning, I descended into the bright breakfast room overlooking the carefully landscaped back garden full of delicate spring flowers. I was served a fresh fruit salad with homemade granola and yogurt. And as I was pushing the plunger down on my individual French press of coffee, a tall older gentleman sat at the table next to me and gave a kind, "Good morning." We began chatting and it turns out this was the owner of Holyrood, Richard Holden. Years ago, he and his wife Sarah-Jane noticed what was then a dilapidated historic building in Newport. An architect, Richard envisioned the possibilities, and together with Sarah-Jane, they transformed it into Holyrood. Throughout my stay, I was surrounded by kind and caring team members, delicious food and comfortable pillows, linens and toiletries in my room. Thank you, all, for making my first visit to the island one I would love to repeat. Oh, and my TEDx talk experience went very well too!

Perfect place to stay for our new year break! The staff were welcoming and helpful. We stayed in Room 8 which was lovely with a view over the courtyard. Breakfast superb (and not added as extra). We will definitely return here on our next trip!

We dropped in here for lunch on a wet Saturday and were surprised at how quiet it was. Our order arrived quite quickly and the food was really good, but over £30 for a soup, quiche, tea for two and two bottles of water was pricey. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and we couldn’t fault the service or the food but it did seem expensive and a little soulless.

We only had a few days and One Holyrood was the perfect location in Newport. It was easy to find and 5 mins walk from the bus station. Lovely room and very friendly staff. The included breakfast was excellent. One Holyrood is a cafe during the day and closed in the evening. There are many nearby restaurants and pubs serving food

Have always recommended this hotel to visitors to the island, have visited previously but staying there at the weekend I was disappointed. The room was on the small side, decor tired, the carpet very stained and the bed uncomfortable, The bathroom was nice and better than some, but the door wouldn't close without being forcibly slammed, there was a short dark curly hair on the bath tiles, and a collection of dust and fluff behind the door. On the landing outside of the room there were two dirty glasses, there when we arrived in the afternoon and still there in the morning when we went for breakfast. Breakfast was nice, except the baked beans were cold and we did not get offered sauces etc and had to find someone to ask. The garden is lovely, but the stay sadly didn't feel like it was worth the money, maybe if it had been one of the "signature" rooms, but not the room we had.

Perfect location by dock for supermarket, town centre and gym. The road outside can be a bit noisy in the evening with youngsters racing about but it tended to stop around 11pm. Great little ground floor flat, comfy and warm with kitchen, WiFi and en-suite.
