庭達斯托飯店(Hotel Tindastoll)

Fabulous warm traditional style Icelandic building with modern amenities, beautiful restoration, quiet great location near restaurants. Has a surprise hot tub in the back garden to soak in. We really enjoyed the stay. Very helpful staff

Das älteste Hotel sieht von aussen heruntergekommen aus innen ist es aber sehr geschmackvoll und originell eingerichtet. Wir hatten ein Riesenzimmer im Nebengebäude. Zimmer und Bad waren sauber, das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Hottune dah nicht sehr sauber aus. Das Ftühstück war vielseitig und sehr lecker. Im Hotel war es sehr ruhig.

Enjoyed our 1 night stay at this old fashioned style hotel. Our room was in the annexe, so was more modern, had a large bathroom. Well maintained and clean. There was a hot tub available to use outside. We had dinner here which was superb. We were told the owner was the chef, and the meal was one of the best in our 3 weeks in Iceland. The restaurant is in the original hotel and downstairs and full of character, and staff all excellent. Breakfast was also excellent. Very much enjoyed this hotel

Very old hotel, and quaint ! We had room 1 which was up very steep stairs. The room was large but dim and very old fashioned ( uncomfy) furniture. We like to have modern comforts - plugs by bed etc, and these were all lacking at this hotel. But I guess that’s not what they are aiming for…. Breakfast was in a dingy cellar- again not our cup of tea …… the food was absolutely fine but it was the strangeness of the decor ( stuffed animals etc ) which isn’t for us.

Das Gebäude stammt offensichtlich von 1884 und wurde lieblos renoviert. Die Wände sind hellhörig, Schnarchen ist deutlich vom Nachbarzimmer zu hören. Selbst das Aufdrehen von Wasserhähnen ist mit viel Lärm verbunden, die Kaffeemaschine im Nachbarzimmer klingt nach Bohrmaschine. Die Planken des Fußbodens sind lieblos kreuz und quer sowie formlos zusammengeschustert - gerne auch mit eingedrehten Schrauben. Die Treppe zum Obergeschoss ist eng und steil, für schwereres Gepäck eigentlich ungeeignet und gefährlich. Hilfe gab es keine. Der Hammer war das warme Wasser, das nach faulen Eiern roch (Schwefel!). Offensichtlich unbehandelt aus dem Innern der Erde. Starkes Würgen beim Duschen war die Folge. Das Bett und das Frühstück sind einigermaßen ok - aber nicht überzeugend.

Cet hôtel ne paye pas de mine mais notre chambre était très originale ! Style vieillot mais très jolie et grande ! La salle de bain mini mini... et la vue sur le mur d'en face... personnel très sympathique, hôtel propre à part le bain extérieur que je n'ai pas voulu tester car vraiment pas propre... par contre pour une chambre à l'étage attention l'escalier est hyper raide ! et quand on a des valises à monter ou descendre.... Le petit-déjeuner était très bien pour un si petit hôtel.

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal nach 2012 in diesem Hotel. Es hat sich nicht viel verändert seither. Das Zimmer klein und eine tiefe Decke. Eher dunkel und bedrückend. Dieses Mal war das Zimmer direkt zum Hot Pot im Innenhof. Schade gab es keinen direkten Zugang dazu. Dusche war schlicht aber sauber. Frühstück im dunklen Keller, aber mit einer sehr guten Auswahl. Wir finden das Hotel für eine Nacht gut.

Altes Haus mit Geschichte. Hübsch renovierte Zimmer. Haus ist extfem ringhörig, was nervig war. Im Nebenhaus war eine Reisegruppe untergebracht... d.h. laut und anstehen für Frühstück. Frühstück war ordentlich. Raum im Untergeschoss jedoch ein bisschen düster.

Tons of character in this "Oldest hotel in Iceland". Hotel dates back to the 1880's. Exposed old beams and a charming old feel along with wonderful husband and wife innkeepers made for a nice overnight stay on our ring road trip. Not much going on in this town, but good place to view northern lights. Due to the shortage of wood back in the day this building was disassembled and rebuilt multiple times before settling here. It has a cozy bygone old US west type feel with smaller rooms having obviously old wooden beams. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Spoke at length with both husband and wife owners about the interesting history of the place. They made great suggestions and even made phone calls to set up future lodging for our journey. Not super fancy but highly recommend.
