This location’s selling point is definitely the area where it’s at - right in the heart of downtown Athens - which was the main reason for booking this hotel. However, the room wasn’t as ‘grand’ as the pictures online show (it seems like a brand new building but there’s already patched cracks in the ceiling, etc.). The room was still decent and clean. The customer service was where I had the issue. Don’t get me wrong, the staff wasn’t rude or impolite by any means - but they were almost cold and seemed to be there to just do their jobs. The gentleman who checked me in made zero eye contact and made me feel like I was ‘not the type’ who should be staying here - a complete 360 shift from the small group who checked in ahead of me. Similar experience in the morning with a female staff member. Either way, it wasn’t what I’m used to with Marriott.
