埃拉克島度假村(Erakor Island Resort & Spa)

What a disgrace. My partner and I organised our wedding in the month of October 2024. After multiple back and forth emails we obtained the contract and quote. They sent us the available accommodation types and the wedding group rates. On the day we went to pay our deposit and book flights we found out all accommodation on the island were booked, other than the house and room allocated to the bride and groom. On previous communications via email we stipulated the houses were not required and individual rooms were going to be booked by family and friends. We also had not confirmed the total number of guests. We discussed the possibility of more than the initial number upon being finalised. My parents booked flights and proceeded to book accommodation. The only room available was the houses. I phoned the number provided only to be told all accommodation was booked and 2 weddings had already been booked for the week we were coming. My parents lost their frequent flyer miles and money on their airfares after cancelling. We are absolutely disgusted and livid that they were going to take our deposit and allow us to proceed with booking flights knowing all accommodation other than the houses and room allocated to bride and groom were all that was left. I had colleagues block out leave over the wedding dates. Shame on you Erakor. Be absolutely vigilant in booking a wedding through this resort and confirm accommodation is available prior to paying any money. I can’t express enough how much this has hurt us and our families.

I'll start by saying Erakor island is one of nicest places to visit for the day with sensational snorkelling. We loved it so much we came twice with the kids in the same week. However - we feel the safety isn't great, hence this poor review. As we were packing up to leave after our lunch on our last visit, our 3 yr old son came in screaming from the beach where he was playing with his older brother, his foot pouring with blood. He'd sliced the underneath of his foot wide open on razor-sharp rusty metal that was sticking up through the surface of the sand. Older son also had a cut finger from the same metal after trying to see what it was. The staff did what they could with their first-aid supplies (even another guest ran to their room for dressings and plasters!) but it was chaos. Then who I can only assume to be the manager arrived, looked at him and remarked: 'yeah he'll likely need a tetanus'. When we questioned how on earth the metal had been left on the beach, we were told it was old remnants of something beneath the sand, (which they were now quickly trying to dig out and remove with saws - turns out it wasn't a tiny piece of rusty metal but a huge chunk - see the photo as they were digging it out) As we were trying to calm down our hysterical son and mop up blood (there was a lot all over the restaurant floor), we had the bill from our lunch presented to us - talk about bad timing! Couldn't believe it. The manager meanwhile had turned her attention to the wedding couple who had earlier got married on the very same beach where the metal was. (Imagine if it had been the bride who was injured!!). We were flying home the following day, so straight to the docs same day we landed - son's foot was infected (surprise surprise) and yes, tetanus required for both kids, smallest one on antibiotics for a week. I would've thought given how our son's injury happened, that the manager would've taken our details to follow up and ask how he was - but no. She was at the jetty as we waited for the boat so it's not like she didn't know we were leaving. A little concern or consideration would've gone a long way to try and make good but all was sadly lacking. There was, however, one great staff member at Erakor, Cliff, who arranged for transport for us back to our resort from the jetty. And thankfully, our resort, (Nasama), went out of their way to help us dress his foot until we got home, even going out for first-aid supplies for us late at night. I'd honestly now think twice about going to Erakor, or at least keep your shoes on at ALL times if you're on the beach. Can't fault the staff though - they did what they could.

Boat to the island leaves from near Warwick Le Lagon resort. I visited Erakor Island for part of a day to relax on the beach (deck chairs with umbrellas), swim, snorkel, walk and have lunch at the restaurant. Pay a fee at the island which gets you a voucher that you can use at the restaurant. The island is a resort where day trippers can use some of the facilities; accommodation area is restricted to resort guests. Difficult to swim at low tide (something I discovered about many beaches in Vanuatu) and be careful not to step on the marine life (e,g. step between the numerous star fish). Rather peaceful escape.

If you are looking for an island paradise then this is the place to go! A secluded tropical island surround by clear crystal blue water. Staff were amazing and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. A short 5 min boat ride gets you to the mainland where taxis are available. Beach facing rooms are a must. We had a fabulous 9 nights on Erakor Island. It’s a beautiful little island just a few minutes boat ride from Efate. Far enough away from town to feel like you are in paradise but close enough that you can go out to restaurants and tour other places pretty easily. Most of the villas are right on the water’s edge and you can swim straight out see all the beautiful tropical fish. No need to go on a snorkelling tour, they are all right there. They have snorkelling gear and kayaks for guests to use also. The restaurant is pretty good and reception will organise taxis and restaurant bookings for you but after a few days we found it just as easy to hop on a bus and no bookings were needed when we were there. The buffet breakfast is fairly basic but they have a hot breakfast menu that is also included. Staff are all lovely and there’s a very laid back vibe. Definitely recommend Erakor Island for a relaxing holiday.

The ultimate Island Paradise. From the moment we say the picture of the island we knew we wanted to stay there. It didn't disappoint mostly. The welcome, the staff, the food, the view right outside our door, the snorkeling, the peace and quiet for relaxing all 5 star. The food was fantastic, fresh and tasty. The only slight disappointment was the villas. Very dated, broken taps and door handles, bathroom old and needed updating and we felt the accommodation was way overpriced - but the position and to be able to walk out the back door into the lagoon to snorkel and see tropical fish made up for it. All in all the most memorable relaxing holiday. Highly recommend.

We went on two occasions. Once for dinner and once for a day visit. Restaurant is right over the water and beautiful. The beach and snorkelling was great fun. You catch a water taxi which then gives you a credit to use in the restaurant if you are a day visitor. If you go over at night it doesn’t cost anything. Fraser was amazing and very helpful. We met Eltie on the taxi and she was very welcoming and helpful. We stayed at the Warwick and also kayaked across.

We recently stayed at Erakor Island resort for 5 nights, and overall had a wonderful time mainly thanks to their awesome team of people. The good: We always felt very safe and well looked after by the incredible team of friendly staff, especially Cliff, Esther, and Annie who were all absolutely AMAZING with our 1 year old baby, Ash. The bottle of bubbles on arrival was a lovely touch. The spa is beautiful and relaxing with great massages and facials. The Melanesian Feast & Fire Show was so delicious and fun. The bad: It was a bit of a bumpy start – the 2 bedroom apartment we were given (villa 2) had 2 levels which we were not aware of, and it wasn't ideal to keep a baby upstairs and have to go up and down steep stairs carrying them for night feeds. It was filled with mosquito's, and the neighbours next to us in villa 1 were smokers, so the smell was wafting upstairs into bubs' room. On arrival we asked if they had a baby bath, but they said they didn't. After a first sleepless night for all of these reasons, we asked to change rooms, but the only accomodation left was a 1 bedroom room, so we accepted the downgrade and they credited us the difference in cost. We were MUCH happier in room 15 – no mosquito's, and after asking again, they did have a baby bath that they provided us with.

Erakor Island Resort is completely stunning and a true island getaway. The location is incredible - imagine stepping out of your room right into beautiful clear waters teeming with tropical fish. Only 20 minutes drive and a 3 minute ferry from the airport. While the location and overall setting are spectacular, it's the staff at Erakor that put the resort in a league of its own. We felt so welcome and cared for, from arrival to departure. The service at the restaurant and bar was fantastic. Harry, Annie and the rest of the team were wonderful, but a special shout out to Cliff who somehow made us feel like we were the only guests on the island. Cliff is attentive, knowledgable, helpful, and incredibly friendly. I hope the management team at Erakor recognise how fantastic their staff are and reward them accordingly.
