great hotel/hostel! unfortunately surrounded by homeless but lots of places to walk to

I managed to live in a hostel and it was normal, and clean enough, the service is excellent.

The hotel is amazing. It's very clean and chic. The bar abd rooftop lounge are an added bonus! There's a very cute drag bar right across the street. The only downside is that parking around here is tricky. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING, AND I MEAN ANYTHING, IN YOUR CAR.

Private rooms were much smaller than expected. Their LED eco friendliness is the laughing stock/running joke. Air conditioning was cranked up when it was cold outside, and even colder in the upstairs rooms. When asked if they cold possibally turn it down or off, they responded by offering an electric space heater and extra blanket. Not what you might expect from a hotel w/no TVs anywhere, or business center because 'they discourage the use of television and computers for environmental reasons'. The surrounding area is unsafe, homeless are everywhere, yet their door security was exceptional. Their Cafe was overpriced. And to top it off, these people had the audacity to withhold my $100 security deposit due to a tiny stain on the sheet, which I did not notice, and was not even sure it was from me. There had been someone else in my room. They agreed only withold $25, and get me back the rest if the stain came out, which it did. Now they want my credit card details to send me the $25. This was a cash deposit. Upon leaving, they seemed to be tring their best to make me miss my taxi ride scheduled, by locking me out and leaving a sign on the door that said the person at reception would be back in half an hour. My bags were still inside. Luckily the girl at the Cafe opened the door for me so that I did not miss my taxi, or train.

I stayed in the bunk room, super nice, clean, quiet. Lots of space, bathrooms were super clean too. There's a fridge upstairs to store and label food if needed. Area around hotel changed a bit at night, but it ended up being fine and the front staff was super knowledgable about the neighborhood which made me feel super safe as a solo female traveler. And at night they lock the front door and individually let people in, someone's always at the front desk.
