The hotel makes a nice stay over when transiting via Quito to the Galapagos or other destination in Ecuador. Staff and service were great, very welcoming and helpful. We ate dinner in the Botanica Restaurant and found the service and quality excellent (try the Tempura Shrimp entree). The heated book was very welcome and while we did not have time to use it, the fitness center was large with a great selection of modern equipment.
The Executive Lounge was nice with a protected outdoor sitting area. We had breakfast there and the choices were great, with a cook making custom eggs (including an excellent Huevos Rancheros).
The hotel is a bit dated, but in excellent condition. The main downside is the location, in the financial district, which closes down at night. Hotel staff warned us not to walk outside after 6pm. It is about a 20-minute taxi ride with traffic to the historic old down, so not convenient if you have a short time and want to explore. It is about a 45-minute drive to the airport compared with 1.5 hours from the historic city center. So, depending on how early your flight departure, it may be a better option than a hotel in the old town.
Several Galapagos cruise lines use the hotel as pre/post hotel stay with flight connections.
