歐爾弗朗提耶(The Ol' Frontier)

The room was cold. The heating wasn’t on but even if it had been on, the gap between the door and the frame was big enough for light to shine through, so it would have been cold anyway. The staff were friendly though when I came to them about a beeping smoke detector in the room (I.e., it needed a new battery) they didn’t know what to do or what batteries it needed. In the end they found the right battery and gave it to me to switch out. Which really…I was a guest, I shouldn’t have to be switching out batteries in smoke detectors.

Absolutely lovely experiences with all the staff i came im contact with, super friendly, kind and very helpful! Especially when I realized i forgot my phone charger at home. 😅 Ac in my room was an absolute godsend during my stay. Bonus points for clean bedding and towels, mini fridge and microwave! The downtown area including grocery store are about a 30 minute walk away, or I very highly recommend howards taxi to get around, both howard and allen are incredibly funny and very good people to get to know! I cant wait to come back again, and again!

The staff at check in were amazing! Gave us ideas for places to eat supper and were very friendly. Later when I went it there was another person. I explained that the remote did not work could I have new batteries. He looked around and found 4 batteries that were in drawers and were used. Of course they also were dead. We managed to use the tv by using the buttons on it. The room is as very tidy etc but it must not have been used in awnhile or checked before we got there because there was a thick layer of dust on cabinets and head board. There is a boardwalk all around the motel which added to the frontier idea. But it is in desperate need of repair as the wood is spongey in many spots, many stuck out which was dangerous. Both my husband and I tripped on them.

No clean linen, no clean towel, no glass for water. Floor filthy. Makes 3rd world countries look really attractive. It’s cheap but it should be bulldozed but it has its following. I’m sure the photos don’t lie but it’s not having any linen, towels and of course the office was shut. A regrettable experience.

Pros: staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean Cons: We had to move rooms 3 times before we got a room in which both the TV and the A/C worked. Then when I connected my phone to the Wifi the the TV shut off and would not turn on. The cost was well below surrounding hotels and it shows ‘You get what you pay for’

For the price, it’s relatively clean and comfortable. There’s a nice little wooded area behind the motel, great for taking your dog to run around, and the fact that the place kind a looks like it’s gonna fall down strangely added to the charm. TV and Wifi were a problem for me, but neither of those things were dealbreakers. Overall, a pretty sweet deal.

We arrived late in the afternoon, check in is at the gas station counter, we had just been on the road since 4am so we were exhausted, and couldn’t be bothered to go back and change rooms, but in the bedside table there was cigarette butts put out inside the drawer, pulling back the bedside table there was a dirty old toothbrush, there was a big spider on the wall above the bathroom door, live cricket’s in the bathroom behind the door, all I did was check the sheets to lie down and have a few hours sleep as we were leaving at 5am, it’s noisy as the walls are paper thin , but having been on the road since 4am I was out cold by 9pm and out the door at 4.30 gas station was locked up so we just locked the key inside

Gas station and convenience store on site. It has a lot of character, it's old but comfortable. And very handy to access from the highway. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Desperately needing some TLC. Had to switch rooms 4 times before finding one half way suitable. Rooms was very dirty with hair and used soap still in the shower. Room smells of smoke and was not very warm. Was given electric heaters to help with that. Parking lot was not plowed early in the morning after an overnight snow. Other hotels in the area had their parking lots already cleared. Only saving grace was the front staff was helpful in accommodating us checking out the very next day to find a new hotel. Took a few days to get a refund though because the employee working the evening shift did not know how to process a refund so had to go back to the hotel twice before I was able to get the refund.
