鹽湖城大學公園萬豪飯店(Salt Lake City Marriott University Park)

Marriott University Park Hotel in Salt Lake City is the most basic Marriott I’ve ever stayed. Due to their unique location virtually on campus, the hotel does nothing to draw customers. I’ve gone to SLC at least 1/2 a dozen times over the past three years and will continue to visit for the next four years while my daughter attends the U. However, other than August 2020 when my son moved to campus and August 2023 when my daughter did, we choose not to stay at this hotel. It has nothing to do with their employees as they are typically affable. It’s the $15 for parking, the basic rooms, the ongoing construction, and the total lack of basic amenities we can get t another SLC hotel that’s just not quite as close to campus. It’s disappointing because Marriott is a well-respected chain, yet I don’t even look for Marriotts anymore on any travels because of the University of Utah location.

What can I say? The area is nice, the hotel is nice. Its currently under renovation but that was no biggie. The biggie was the cost/fees. They charged $12 a day for parking. Why? Its not downtown and they have their own lot that has twice as many spaces as there were cars.$12 a day, really? Also there was no free breakfast. There is a Starbucks in the lobby. I paid $7.30 for a mocha. For $220 a night, I didnt expect to have to pay to park or to have no free breakfast options. Wouldnt stay there again given the fees on top of cost.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 3-day stay on 3rd floor of this hotel. Nice restaurant/bar for a quick solo meal at the bar w/ very efficient & accommodating staff & good food (shrimp skewers & tomatoe bisque). Good wine list. Breakfast Room was floor to ceiling windows onto a tree-filled garden- so pleasant. Awesome servers, good bkfst menu choices. Room clean, very comfy king bed. No complaints! Will return when in the area. So glad to have found this spot 🌸

For $200/night, I’d rather have a few face towels in the bathroom and a microwave than a Chihuly on the lobby. Elevator was out and the other one took a long time to arrive: not fun on the sixth floor. Also, $12/day parking is a ripoff. The location wasn’t walkable to the University, which was why we were there. Not even a pool or hot tub.

Staff was really nice and helpful. Construction limited use of elevator and found the lock was engaged in stairwell so didn't use stairs. Didn't want to get trapped in there. Overall stay was pleasant. Restaurant staff, and front desk were super friendly and helpful. Overall we had a pleasant stay. The only suggestion is having a shuttle that runs to University of Utah campus. Being a suggested Hotel for the University it would be helpful to have transportation to the campus. We had a rental car this time, but many families were waiting out front for Uber.

They’re currently renovating the property so you have to deal with that, like one elevator but they’re making it work pretty effectively. If you have meetings or interests at the University of Utah, it’s the place to stay.

Pretty disappointing experience. Checked in and was given a king room when I paid for two queens. Reported the error and was given a queen room. Beds were not comfortable, we all tossed and turned. The rooms have one luggage rack and no other places to put luggage- no benches at end of bed, etc. Rooms ok, clean, a bit dated, fridge, but no microwave. The most frustrating part is we got multiple parking tickets while there. When you enter the lot there are signs with a QR code that suggest guests may need to pay for parking. What was unclear to me is whether paying hotel guests needed to pay, or just others who were perhaps visiting for a wedding, conference, etc. When I checked in, I asked the clerk “what’s the deal with parking?” He said, “just park anywhere.” I took that to mean as a paying guest I did not need to pay to park. He did not say “be sure to scan the QR code and register/pay for your car,” which I would expect the front desk to alert me to. So I just parked, as suggested. One in our party revived a text that he’d gotten a ticket the next day. I expect my tickets will arrive in the mail shortly through the rental car company. When we complained to the front desk, the person working said “didn’t you see the signs??” I explained that I had seen the signs, and therefore had asked the clerk “what’s the deal with parking?” I explained that the clerk had not explained that I needed to pay but just said “park anywhere.” Response: “sorry, we’ll remind them.” Boo.
