The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as far as they could be. On the first day of our stay ( Chris**as Day) there were parties going on and we had to go up several flights of stairs to get to the breakfast buffet. Everything was a little hard to find but the food was good when available. The ample grounds were an additional attraction as were the huge trees in the spacious garden. On Chris**as Day there were lots of staff looking after the various parties.On the last day, however, ther was only one poor unfortunate waiter in attendance! He did his best but it was impossible for him to keep the buffet food items fully refreshed. He had to do this as well as clearing plates etc from tables. We thought that the lack of any other waiting staff was due to the unavailability of staff from the European Union. The bedroom facilities needed repairs which were unattended to. In particular, the control knob of the central heating radiator had fallen off and could not be replaced. The radiator was on night and day and also made an irritating noise through most of the night. We stayed three nights in the hotel from 24th to 27th December 2023. IN summary, we thought that the hotel could be restored to it's original splendour but would need a substantial inves**ent to improve its standard. The once magnificent hotel seemed sadly neglected because of lack of inves**ent. Otherwise the room was satisfactory. But sleep was difficult until we got more used to the noise at night. In summary, we thought that the hotel needed a lot of money spending on it to improve the facilities and make dure there were enough staff.

It was unfortunate that the heating and hot water supply of the whole hotel was out of order during our stay. The staff worked whole-heartedly to find another sister hotel for us

Good environment like a castle, love the surroundings grasslands, lake, jacuzzi, pool, steam , table tennis, room spacious …….!

Nice breakfast, friendly staff and good location

A lovely older property but very much in need of a lick of paint on the lower rooms level. One private room had a fist punch mark on the door which had just been left! Calling into question a single females safety. Only two tea bags which was poor. Room otherwise clean, smart. No heating on which was fair enough, but second quilt was fastened so tight it was like a straight jacket. Good idea to provide an extra one though, with the austerity of no heating.

sadly I did not read the reviews prior to booking here. The room was freezing cold on arrival and throughout our 1 night stay. The main reason for this is the room is fitted with wooden French doors, which were letting in a lot of draft at the join where both doors meet. We contacted reception to be told that they were all out of electric heaters as all the rooms are so cold. we were provided 1 extra duvet for our family room which contained 2 double beds. the shower was also Luke warm at best. Breakfast was pretty poor with limited vegetarian options.
