We’ve wanted to stay at this resort for years, but the reviews were very mixed and we were curious as to why. Our difficulties with Aman began after booking. If you only read a few sentences, know that the main turn off at this hotel are the 5 inch fuzzy black spiders we found in our room 3 of 4 nights- they were huge, quick and hid in the sliding door rafters so it was almost impossible to get to them which made sleeping difficult. We had our daughter with us and the giant spiders ruined our stay in many ways. For 11k for 4 nights, you’d think they could keep our bugs. After initially booking, we tried to reach out to the hotel several times on several email addresses with no responses- I had to call the national Aman number and then they finally responded. It was bizarre. We are very loyal Four Seasons guests and wanted to try Aman and it was not what we expected. Booking prices changed after booking, outings were not booked as they were originally- everything felt difficult. There are very few rooms and you must make dining reservations far ahead of time. My husband tried to get a cake for a Birthday and the language barrier was so strong that he was told that it was impossible even though he tried months in advance and upon our arrival once again. He was frustrated and we chuckled when he saw someone else after the night of the failed Birthday with a cake at the table next to us- so they could do it, they just didn’t. The little details Aman is famous for fell below the mark, for sure. The food was amazing and we really enjoyed our meals there, with all the other things said. The spa is lovely although quite pricey. If you can book meals with your room, the meals seem much more reasonable. I would stay for a max of 2 nights as there isn’t much to do in the area.
