The price should be a lot lower for this substandard accommodation . The approach to the B&B is an embarrassment . The behaviour and bad language from their neighbours was disgusting. The bed and the mattresses were very old, & of poor Quality . Headboard was hanging off ,had to remove it for safety . The Claremont house is only fit for down & outs . It’s not worthy of calling it a B& B . The best you could do is return my £90 cost .with a sincere apologies. One night stay .Saturday 3rd June .2023 . Mary scholz .

Where do I start! When we arrived, we had no check in instructions/information regarding how check in would work. We pressed the doorbell but no one answered. We then found the front door was open so walked into the hallway with no instructions on how to check in. We heard some noise through the corridor so walked through and knocked politely to raise the attention of the lady cooking. She looked blankly at us and called someone out. The lady called Isobel came out and looked at us as if we had walked into her private house (we felt like intruders even though wr we’re still in the guest area) We received no welcome and got they key for us and showed us to our room. We had booked a twin room as this was all that was left for £110, quite expensive already we thought! When we sat on one of the beds the creek was horrendous, it sounded like it was about to fall apart. This was obviously something they knew about as quickly exited our room when we arrived. Unfortunately, due to such an unwelcoming atmosphere, we didn’t feel as though we could report this/anything would actually be done, so ended up having to share the one functioning bed between us! The breakfast smelt so awful and greasy in the morning that we decided to just simply leave and find somewhere else for breakfast. It depends what you are looking for, but I’d probably say it was worth about £10 per night not £110! Very disappointing. We also have a video of said creaky bed.

I booked on the Saturday evening for Sunday till Monday nights and paid in full, turned up at the property at 12.17 pm but wasn’t let in due to the lady stating that checking time was 9pm (WHICH WASNT STATED ON ANY WEBSITE) the booking confirmation said check in after 2pm nothing about 9pm. The woman who spoke through to intercom was very rude and raised her voice when me and my partner remained calm and didn’t raise our voices ONCE, she would not even taking my confirmation number and said I could have a full refund if I phoned up at 9 am. I did so and when calling up the next day, the same lady answered and stated it wasn’t her from the night before, said she’ll have to speak to a manager and call right back, but didn’t and when trying to call back I received no answer and no refund. I’m not happy with this place as we had travelled quite far to be left on the streets with no where to go, money taken and not compensated and unaware of the IMPORTANT information that was left out while booking. I will be in contact again until I get my refund.

This property is only fit for student accommodation. Towels being used for multiple occupancy bathroom is a cleanliness issue.

How this place has a decent review score has made me question the validity of the reviews. The area was awful, the building was grim, the whole place was musty and grubby. It felt as if I had entered a half way house for the homeless. The smell of someone cooking greasy fish absolutely filled the air.. then backed up by the sound of drunk homeless looking people arguing outside other half way house looking buildings through the paper thin windows, was the last straw.. I had to leave..

Property looked much better in pictures, rooms very tired in particular bathrooms with many diy bodges and stale smell, breakfast ok but host not very friendly, apart from fried food all Diy service. Location for visiting central city perfect.

Great location! Guest house is a little run down but the staff were lovely and the price and location excellent. Nice and clean.

In a good location for central Southampton. Presentable hotel, friendly service and a good breakfast. Shower was a bit pathetic and EV charging would be a useful addition.

Was a nice quiet place to stay. Very clean and tidy. Had to leave early before breakfast so cant comment on that.
