Good little hotel but needs some major improvements to improve the comfort during the stay. Firstly the loft bed is super high up meaning the air doesn’t circulate up there. We sweated too much and it was so uncomfortable. The blankets were also too thick so when you’re sweating you also have the thickest blanket known to man kind. No matter how cold we made the aircon, the upstairs was always very hot. Also there is no table or shelf up high for belongings but there’s a phone charger, so you have to shove your phone down the mattress. Also the steps are very steep and slippery, our toddler fell down then a couple of times so they probably need some grips on the stairs for safety. Main thing to improve is aircon and put a shelf upstairs.

The noise problems raised in the other reviews are real but not perhaps as bad as I was prepared for, and whilst the trains are loud in the day they didn't wake me or my family at night. The rooms have a lovely design aesthetic and gave us a lot of space with two kids that other hotels don't, especially for the price. Sudiobashi is a well located neighbourhood and its easy to get everywhere. There are also some great local dining options but the location of the hotel wedged between a freeway and trainline makes it a very poor spot for an otherwise pretty good hotel. We found the staff to try hard and spoke pretty good english. For me the single biggest reason I wouldn't go back is that the beds are futons effectively on the floor with traditional japenese seed pillows / with some feathers... and it was 5 long nights of waking up sore in the morning.
We picked this hotel to be close to the train station. Unfortunately, it was too close to the station. We stayed 3 nights here and it was by far the worst hotel we stay at in Japan. From our room, you can wave to the passengers. Even if you are a deep sleeper, you'd be woken up every 5 minutes by the passing trains. When we complained about the noise, the hotel gave us ear plugs from their drawer and would not move us. We were not the first to complain about the noise. I wish I could have cancelled this hotel but it was too late. We booked two rooms for our family of 4. When I did, I requested to be close to each other. They stuck us on 2 different floors and they were not flexible about helping us even though we stayed there 3 nights and when I offered to pay to be moved. My kids stayed on the backside of the hotel close to the highway. It was loud but you could sleep through the highway noise unless you are a light sleeper. I would never stay at this hotel again. Our Japan experience was great but this hotel was a blemish to our experience.
