歐克蘭茲貝斯特韋斯特優質飯店(Best Western Plus Oaklands Hotel)

The hotel is a mixed bag. The room was unloved, from random hairs in the bathroom to old and ineffective windows, to the picture above the bed that was on the wonk! However, the bed was comfy and the breakfast was good - a well cooked and generous breakfast and helpful and friendly waiting staff.

Friendly staff, but I think the place needs a bit of money and inspiration spent, granted it was was winter so you do not see it in its best light!

Nightmare from the start. Check in went on. Got to room fan wouldn’t turn off in bathroom. Went to see reception woman. And first she was so rude to me. Walking away trying to onsite me. All she said turn it off then lol.. no switch to turn it off.. mantainstance came and said yes it’s broke. Never again for me keep away.

Unfortunately I arrived and had to eat at the restaurant, I paid over the odds for 4 chunks of almost grilled (raw) chicken on a flat bread and a hint of salad. I asked for chips too and was told they were extra. (in the end they didnt charge for the chips) outrageous for £17 but i was in a rush as I had an evening appointment, the kitchen wasnt though as I waited 30 mins for the raw food. There was only 1 other table.... look how pink it is - almost clucking. Breakfast was equally disappointing, there are few options if you dont want eggs or red meat. I chose the vegan breakfast even though im not vegan, but it was missing 2 of the items it was supposed to have... i overheard the waiter telling another table they had run out, but nobody bothered to tell me. It was awful. The room itself was tiny... the mattress so soft on one side that if you lay in the centre you are rolled off the bed. There was no way of controlling heat, so it was way too hot (its november) nowhere to put anything so tripping over luggage and clothing trying to do anything other than sleep - which was impossible due to the snoring ape in the next room. On checkout nobody asked how my stay was... just happy to charge me. The wifi network is so open I could see what tunes the kitchen were playing on spotify...I left with a bad stomach, and very dreary eyed feeling like I had some sort of survival experience, not great before a 4 hour drive.

comfortable stay carpet and various other tired areas but decent overall. Obviously trying to update and this looks like a very popular wedding venue Great staff Stayed away from the food as my colleague also stayed and his experience was not as favorable as mine.....

I have stayed here a few times because of the staff and location .The breakfast menu is on the the best i have found anywhere .

Small pokey room with a shoe box of a bathroom. Room was not in the hotel itself, more a converted house at the entrance point of the hotel. Floor creaked very loudly, so apologies to the people underneath me. The small car park was ridiculous with no security lighting. Receptionist was very welcoming. Not worth £89 !!

On booking I knew I would be in the annex accommodation, I had stayed in this hotel before and I have always found it to be fine and the food is very good. I was advised on check in that the annex was back down the long drive and on the amin road, the annex i thought was actually the hotel suites. I carried my heavy bag back down the drive, and proceeded into the annex block, which I think is a converted house. What is striking in the front of the property is that it really needs tidying up and better lighting provided when approaching the property, there are numerous overgrown bushes around the front area. I proceeded into the property and the stairs were very noisy (I don't think any underlay on the carpet or very thin). I noted that no towels so did not want to go back up the drive and thought I would pick up some when I went to evening meal. The room itself was shown as a single room, but there was a small double, for the size of the room it would probably be better to have a single bed to give more space in the room. There is also a large mirror in a standing frame blocking the window, a review of the room by the hotel would be good. The bathroom was clean although two empty free shower bottles located in the shower soap dish, so not sure why it was missed. On returning to the room after evening meal, as I settled I noted that there was a bit of load conversation downstairs, plus cooking which I could smell. I would stay in the hotel again but not in the annex

Excellent staff Room rather dark. 3 events going on on Saturday might made it extremely noisy and uncomfortable to eat a meal.
