濱江旅館(Riverside Hotel)

We booked a night in the riverside guest house. The room cost us £70 including a parking permit. When entering the room it smelt damp and was overpowering we thought this was just a case of opening the windows, which we did and went out for the night, when we arrived back the smell was stronger. In the room we were advised that if there were any issues with our stay to email them directly to the hotel, which we did, I informed them that we had to sleep with the windows open due to there been no ventilation and an overpowering smell. To which they replied below. Baring in mind the conditions they mention towards the end was that I had mentioned that I had asthma and was pregnant and struggled to sleep in the room as it was. And according to them I should have made them aware of my ‘condition’ and they would have given us an alternative or cancelled. At "Riverside" we have 4 buildings and 9 different types of rooms for the variety of guests with different needs and budget. When we received this booking on the 2 March 2022, I was asking myself: who are these people, making the reservation so far in advance and selecting our cheapest (our worst) room? All the better rooms were available, and at that time the prices were very low, for a few quid you could have Standard or even Superior room... General info: ..."Please make sure the type of bed(s) and size of the room(s) you booked suit your needs. Note, there are Small (Economy), Standard and Superior sizes of the rooms. If Small room is selected, please expect it to be smaller than Standard room, one side of the bed against the wall and no view from the window. When the cheapest room is selected, one should ask: "What kind of people book these rooms and in this area? We didn't receive any information about you or your condition in the section "Important info about the guest" or "Special requests" and knew nothing about your sensitivity (nobody else complained about the smell) If you'd mention your condition on your booking, then we'd advise you to upgrade your room or cancel it altogether. The room was spotless, shower hot and wifi was excellent. The room itself was a good size for a solo traveller. Location 5 mins walk to train station and town centre. The stairs up to the room were extremely narrow (this was mentioned but I think they are unsafe). Check-in was awkward, I arrived just after check-in began and was told we weren't expecting you yet (I was 25mins earlier than the time I had said I would arrive). Not the friendliest of check-ins. The hallway smelled of cigarettes too. But it was cheap and ok for 2 nights.

We booked this hotel for 3 nights 19-21 st July based on pictures on there web site it looked just what we wanted the rooms looked comfortable and plenty of space with river side views when we arrived we had problems finding it as address we were given was actually an annex not part of the hotel we were actually in the roof on one of the hottest days of the year one tiny fan the bed was broken slats removed and replaced with an old mattress under the top mattress so as soon as you sat on the bed you went through shower room smelt of bad drains and not even extractor fan one set of broken drawers and a cheap hanging rail it was so bad we left the following morning the only plus’s side it was clean but apart from that one of the worst places I have ever stayed so if you book this hotel double check where they are putting you would never go back or recommend!!!

Fantastic location, welcoming staff, helpful, practical and clean room. Nice big shower and quiet neighbours/guests. Will definitely come back here again

I travel all over the country for work and was visiting Norwich for the first time and decided to book this place due to proximity to train station. When arriving it took several minutes for the door to be answered - got the keys and had to go up several flights of stairs which I'm sure don't meet health and safety as they're super thin and have railing just to help you up. Room was tiny and you couldn't stand up in bathroom due to the design. Walls must be the thinnest I've ever stayed in as was woken up several times until I just gave up on the idea of sleep I've now got 10 hours of work with a neck that's ruined due to a terrible bed and no sleep. It may be cheap but it is for a reason

I booked this for a girly night out but couldn't make it. I contacted the Hotel for a refund, they couldn't do this because I was late in cancelling but they did change the date for me. Correspodence was very quick and helpful. I was a little concerned by reading other reviews of what to expect but I needn't of worried. We had a superior room overlooking the river and it was lovely, comfortable beds and pillows and a good shower. The room was very warm, we had a fan but had to keep the windows open. This was the only downfall because it is on a main road and the traffic doesn't stop. But thats not the Hotels fault. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. There us a key code on the front door which is a plus as I felt much safer knowing only the residents can get in. There is another building with rooms in so if its the hotel you want I would contact them first to make sure that is where you will be staying.

Terrible stay, tried calling the property before we left to find out about parking arrangements, no answer. We arrived 30 mins before check in and tried calling the duty manager 10+ times on his office and moble phone but no answer, rang the bell as instructed, no answer so had to go do our own thing tried calling twice more from 1330 hours, no answer. Then he called us at around 5 pm to ask when we thought we would be arriving.... When we was finally given access to the property it was very shabby in the communal areas. I am not sure this was being used exclusively as a hotel as there was families in the building with their very young children running around the communal areas at 10pm at night and people cooking in what seemed to be a shared kitchen area which was not mentioned in the info on the site. The manager was phoned again as the children were playing and shouting right our room door whilst their mother was cooking dinner and dishes on the sink, they was asked to be quiet bit didny understand what we was sayinh.The room was noisy as there was traffic all night. The room was acceptable in clenliness and comfort but i have just felt very misled in the description of the property when we booked.

Nice stay, staff friendly, clean room, handy for the railway station and football ground, the room I was in was on the top floor whch has a very steep staircase so bear that in mind if you struggle with stairs apart from that I highly recommend this place. Parking is by paying a fee and hotel gives you a parking permit as the streets outside the hotel require a permit.

Good things first: the staff are lovely but they can only do so much. Bad things: desperately needs renovation. No breakfast. Walls are made of paper. Reception is at the back so you'll hear every single guest come in, snore, fart, and talk loudly into their phones all night. There is no possibility of sleeping.
