King Anu pointed to Thailand in the distance, as if telling his unfinished hatred of the ancient Siam Kingdom. Vientiane is the only country in the world that has built its capital on the border. The sculpture points to a river in front of it and across the river is Thailand. The statue is pointed at Thailand with a sharp knife, as if it had to cut off Thailand to vent its hatred. It is also a warning to Thais not to invade Laos for ever. That's why the statue was placed on the border.
