The good: First and foremost, the staff. All very friendly doing their best to help with any problem that may arise, whether it has to do with your stay at he hotel or not. Good location, close to the museum quarter, five minutes' walk to the tram station that goes to Dam square and the train station, in a quiet residential street. OK: Rooms are very small and compact, but that seems to be the general situation in Amsterdam, and if you're out all day seeing the sights then it's not a deal breaker. The bad: Housekeeping needs to get their act together. Checked in, went up to the room, entered the bathroom and was greeted by a very strong smell of mildew or something similar. Fortunately I was immediately given another room without any argument. Went up to the room, entered the bathroom, and noticed that one of the overhead lamps was not working. Took a shower and found that there's a drainage problem with the water draining so slowly that I had to shut the water flow so as not to have water overflowing onto the floor. Nothing tragic, and it was all fixed the next day, but one would think that the job of housekeeping is to take care of these problems BEFORE the guest checks in, not after.

booked this hotel 10th december . i wasn’t expecting too much . what a surprise! staff were so helpful it was like having a tourist information kiosk in reception. so knowledgeable. 25min walk (for me but could be done quicker i’m sure) to Dam Square and restaurants and souvenir shops . close to Van Gogh and Rijks museum . the rooms are small but the space has been put to good use . beds are comfortable and the showers are hot and easy to use will definitely come back to this hotel one word of warning do not get taxis total rip off

We stayed with a Rick Steve's tour group. This company is clear to advise you that you will be staying in moderate European hotels on their tours, meaning they may have limited or no air conditioning, may have street noise, may be small, etc. This hotel had all of these drawbacks. Again, this was as advertised to us but something other U.S. travelers may want to know as the standards are very different. The unadvertised problem with this hotel is that it is dirty. We had two rooms, both of which were sloppy or sticky when we arrived and got no better with housekeeping. Both rooms had dirty linens, to the point of being stained; full of hair and other flotsam; and smelling bad in one of the rooms. I actually tied a pajama top around my pillow hoping to lessen the smell of it. They were working on housekeeping throughout our stay so I don't know where the disconnect was. We don't normally stay at hotels at this classification but it's a part of the tour culture for this company. We have been on several tours with them previously so knew what to expect and how to adjust our expectations. We tried to roll with this place hoping it would just make for a funny story but ultimately could not tolerate it; we checked out early and paid for another hotel. I don't think I've posted a hotel review in a decade, that's how unpleasant it was. There are plenty of other poor reviews here, including from other people on Rick Steve's tours so it's not a one off. I'll be sharing my unhappiness with the company in the hopes they change hotels. I understand they have a long relationship with them but we are too far past COVID restrictions for this to be tolerated. If you aren't with a tour group there is no reason to stay here. On the positive side it is very centrally located and the staff were okay. Relative to some other hotels in this category we stayed at it was modern. It just isn't clean.

Yes, I booked late and got the lower floor single room, for the price I had expected more. The staff was very helpful. No complaints there. The room was small, but quite adequate for a few days. It looked directly out on the hotel's garden, which might bother some. Bathroom tiny, like all bathrooms in Amsterdam, but manageable. Décor was attractive, the bed and pillow were comfortable but paint chips were just about everywhere, even a burned cigarette hole in one of the chairs. The carpet was not clean. Breakfast was sub par. In Amsterdam I've always gotten more variety and better quality. Of course, it was largely preferable to spending who knows how much at a nice breakfast place in the area. You may have guessed, I love to load up big on breakfast and then stay out fully energized for as long as possible. This strategy may not appeal most people though. One of the big pros is, obviously, the location, especially if you are a museum fanatic like me. I was there to see the fabulous Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum so a 8-minute walk gets you first in line no sweat. And if like me, you've stayed hours in the museum, the short walk back to the hotel is a life saver. So, I'd love to be more lenient because the staff was kind and really helpful but I do hope to avoid disappointments for other travelers who are, unlike me, more concerned about the hotel they are in. I would suggest you don't get the lower level rooms and things might be better. Rule out breakfast though. Hope that helps...enjoy Amsterdam.

We really enjoyed our stay. It is close to a lot of shops and restaurants. The Rijksmuseum is a short walk away. There is a tram stop also within walking distance. If you want to do a canal cruise, there are several that board across the street from the Rijksmuseum. There is a bus that goes right from the airport and stops across the street from the hotel. The bus stop to catch the bus back to the airport is just down the next block. Our room was pretty spacious for a European hotel. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, my suite night awards didn’t get approved (likely because the hotel was full) but I did get upgraded to an executive room. I enjoyed the personal welcome note and treats from the staff. They also dropped off a thank you note and a small gift of stroopwafels on our last night! The only issue we had with the room was that we couldn’t get the temperature as cool as we wanted but that wasn’t a dealbreaker. The room had a coffee maker and a small mini-fridge to keep water and drinks cool. The M Club Lounge at the hotel was great. My only complaint is that I do wish they’d vary their breakfast items each day. Five days of the exact same items got to be a little tiresome. We only made it to the club in the afternoon/evening twice during our stay. On Friday night, it was jam packed. People were circling like sharks. I really loved the coffee machine in the M Club and liked that they had bottled drinks we could take back to the room.

Recently stayed here with two friends. First impressions, the hotel room was lovely, was in a great location and it had air conditioning which was needed for such a hot weekend! It wasn't until we were settling down to go to sleep at night and I saw a bug crawling on the bed. It was orangey brown and I hoped it wouldn't be a bed bug so we googled it and to our disgust, we discovered it was. We then pulled back the covers and more crawled out to our horror. We then informed the night staff, who at first didn't take us seriously, we told him there were bed bugs and he said he didn't know what bed bugs were!! I showed him one of the videos on my phone I had taken and he said ”It's just one bug? What do you want me to do, catch it?” This was concerning as surely all hospitality staff should know what bed bugs are especially when working in a hotel and he wasn't taking us seriously at all, it felt almost like he was mocking us and felt like he was being condescending. We then asked if we could move rooms and he told us the hotel was fully booked. He eventually agreed to check out the bed bugs in our room and he then filmed them and immediately sorted us out with a new room two floors below - contradicting what he had told us earlier when he said he didn't know what bed bugs were and that the hotel was booked up. We were thankful we eventually got a new room, however we were downgraded to a smaller room with no air-conditioning just to add to our dismay. We were just thankful to move rooms at that point, however it tainted the rest of our stay there. Not only were we paranoid that the bed bugs may have infested our own stuff, it just wasn't handled appropriately at all. We weren't taken seriously and then for the rest of our stay, none of the staff addressed it with us or formally apologised about the issue and downgrading our room. We were disappointed and felt uncomfortable to discuss the issue further with staff after this. I appreciate these things can happen and it's unfortunate but it could have been handled much better by staff. I hope the hotel has sorted the bed bug issue out properly before they spread and allow other people to stay in the room and surrounding rooms. We would not recommend and would avoid.

The hotel is located in a great part of town just a stroll or tram from the centre of Amsterdam. Its got charm and is decorated well, good beds even though the rooms are quite small, but adequate. However... The place is ran by random staff that change daily, we were overcharged on check in and had to wait weeks for a refund which soured the experience of staying here... Breakfast is poor for the price paid and the TVs dont work either... Shame the owners cant sort these small ******* out.
