Know some portuguese? Don't miss a morning trip to this unique museum. One of the most enjoyable museums I've been to, it has fresh content and amazing interactive displays. It is built inside an old train station, making it our D'Orsay. There might be a thing with amazing museums and train stations...

By the Pinacoteca of São Paulo side, it's a place where you can exite your curiosit about the spoken language.

A museum about a language doesn't exactly sound titillating, but this fascinating gallery inside the reformed Estação da Luz train station in Centro features a wealth of interesting permanent exhibits documenting the Portuguese language and its rise as a separate but equal tongue to that of European Portuguese. Almost everyone who visits walks out not only more educated as to why Brazilians speak the way they do, but a little bit surprised about how well done the whole museum actually is. It's not as high-profile as more famous spaces like MASP or Pinocoteca do Estado, but well-worth a few hours of your time.

This museum is really cutting edge and offers the visitors the opportunity to feel the Portuguese language in all the meanings. Great design. Very visual so you don't need to be a portuguese speaker. Place of great learning, attractions for adults and children! It is very well organized and easily accessible by train and metro at Luz Station, very close to the center of São Paulo.

This museum is a great place to go with the kids. Apart from the Luz train station being gorgeous - and the museum is inside it - they have a very interactive permanent exhibition telling the story of Portuguese language. You can play with loose words on a surface screen to make up new words or see the word tree from the panoramic elevator.

Quando estava em funcionamento era divertido pelo jeito que ensinava a historia da nossa língua. Inclusive, bastante interativo.
