The largest and most magnificent landmark building in the city of Cotol, the Roman-style building, was consecrated in 1166 A.D. and severely damaged in the 1667 Dubrovnik earthquake. It was repaired until it was damaged by the earthquake in 1979. It was not completely repaired until recent years. Churches are proud not only of their longer history than many other churches in Europe, but also of their rich collection of art. The frescoes inside the church were painted in the 14th century. Above the main altar, there are stone reliefs depicting the life of St. Triffin, the patron saint of Cottor. There is a charge of 2.5 Euros for inside visits.
